Yearround management techniques for citrus tree diseases and pests – AiHua Plant Protection APP

——Aihua Plant Protection

The main pests and diseases to be controlled during the dormant period (December-March) include: mildew, scale insects, and millipedes.

Orchard cleanup: Prune diseased and dead branches, remove stunted fruit, sweep up fallen leaves and weeds, and scrape off rough bark.

Prevention and control methods: Spray with Greenheng No. 6 + abamectin mineral oil, or Juqing + Aiqiu + abamectin mineral oil.

The main pests and diseases to be controlled during the flowering period (March-April) include: ulcer disease, anthracnose, scab, bud maggots, spider mites, aphids, and psyllids.

Fertilization: Apply potassium sulfate (15-15-15) plus super energy base fertilizer in a 1:1 ratio in trenches or holes. This is beneficial for the expansion of flower buds in spring and lays the foundation for increased production.

Prevention and control methods: Spray with a mixture of charcoal lock, cloud-based chlorhexidine, sedative, and fentanyl-killing agent.

The main pests and diseases to be controlled during the young fruit stage (May-June) include: canker, anthracnose, scab, viral diseases, aphids, leafhoppers, scale insects, spider mites, and rust mites.

Control methods: Spray with Greenheng No. 6 + Juqing + Fengshan Acaricide + Aiqiu. (Download the AiHua Plant Protection APP on your mobile phone to get a free citrus planting teacher)

The main pests and diseases to be controlled during the fruit enlargement period (August-October) include: bacterial canker, anthracnose, aphids, spider mites, and rust mites.

Fertilization: Dig a 10 cm trench, mix super energy fertilizer and potassium sulfate compound fertilizer in a 1:2 ratio as base fertilizer, and water 5-7 days after application. Spray foliar fertilizers such as Laiguo, Aiguo, Laigen, and Sezhimi 2-3 times a month to promote fruit enlargement.

Prevention and control methods: Spray with a mixture of charcoal, green hyacinth No. 6, chlorpyrifos, chlordane, and abamectin.

Citrus tree preservation methods: In November, spray once with a mixture of imazalil manganese salt, abamectin, and spirodiclofen. For citrus fruits, spray the entire tree with 2,4-D fruit stabilizer in December, January, and February of the following year. Apply 2.5 kg of wood ash to the base of the tree and leave it until harvest in March; the fruit retention rate reaches 95%. For citrus fruits, spray the tree once a month before the harvest period (December) and once in December and January of the following year with a solution of 2,4-D plus Yunwanbao and 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate; the fruit drop rate is only 9.6%-26% after 2-4 months of tree preservation. Post-harvest pest and disease control (October-December) mainly includes: orchard sanitation, fertilization, deep plowing of the orchard, and prevention of diseases and pests.

Deep plowing of orchards: After the first frost, plow the orchard to a depth of 25 cm to promote deep roots and lush foliage, and reduce pests and diseases.

Orchard sanitation: In late autumn and early winter, remove diseased and damaged branches, dig out bark larvae, whitewash the trunks, and spray with abamectin mineral oil + Xin Shen Ling + Lai Gen. For severe rot disease, scrape off the rotten bark and apply Green Heng No. 6 + eugenol. Then apply it once each during the budding stage, the young fruit stage, and before the rainy season. This can effectively prevent rot disease for three consecutive years.

Fertilization: Apply 5-10 catties of Super Energy fertilizer per plant as base fertilizer from October to December, along with 2-3 catties of superphosphate.
