What are the steps for refinishing old furniture and how to renovate log furniture?

Solid wood furniture, also known as all-solid wood furniture, is meticulously crafted to maintain its original, natural appearance. Consequently, the furniture's exterior requires minimal maintenance. Unlike conventional furniture, which often receives additional lacquer coatings, this antique, unadorned feel is particularly sought after.

If the original wood furniture you bought at home has been used for a long time or is not properly protected, and has paint peeling and scratching, you can repaint it. As a home furnishing expert, Xiudada will teach you the tricks to renovate old furniture magically.

  1. Prepare painting tools

  1. Gasoline

  2. Water

  3. Rubber water

  4. Sandpaper

  5. Brush

  6. Paint

  7. Cloth

  2. Painting steps

  1. Remove handles from old furniture

Prevents scratches on hands and makes it easier to paint.

  2. Polish new and old furniture

Sand it with coarse sandpaper first. Don't sand the corners too much and try to keep the original shape of the furniture.

Then use a soft cloth dampened with water to wipe off the polishing powder.

  3. First coat of paint

First, dip a brush in a small amount of paint in the paint bucket. Paint from top to bottom and left to right, including corners and hidden areas.

  4. Let the furniture dry

Leave the painted furniture for four to five hours to dry naturally and wait for the paint to dry completely.

  5. Polish again

After the paint is dry, sand it again with fine sandpaper to smooth out any uneven areas and make it easier to paint again later.

  6. Second coat of paint

Xiudada Tip: If the paint is too thick, add some rubber water to dilute it. Continue to dry and sand it. Apply a third coat of paint. Wait again for it to dry.

  7. Install the handle

Reinstall the removed handles and trim.

  The furniture painting is finished.

Xiudada Tip: Sand the furniture twice during the three coats of paint, and be patient and wait for it to dry. This will ensure the best results for your furniture restoration.
