What are the steps for refinishing and painting old furniture? How to refinish solid wood furniture?
Solid wood furniture, also known as all-solid wood furniture, is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, emphasizing a natural and unpretentious style. Therefore, its surface protection and maintenance are relatively simple, unlike ordinary furniture which often features additional paint or coating. It is precisely this antique, rustic charm that makes it so popular and beloved.
If your wooden furniture has been used for a long time or has been improperly maintained, resulting in paint chipping and scratches, you can repaint and refinish it. As a home decor expert, here are some tips from Xiudada on how to magically refurbish old furniture.

1. Prepare painting tools
1. Gasoline
2. Water
3. Rubber solution
4. Sandpaper
5. Brush
6. Paint
7. Cloth
II. Painting Steps
1. Remove the handles from the old furniture.
It prevents hand scratches and makes painting easier.
2. Sanding new and old furniture
First, sand it with coarse sandpaper, but don't sand the corners too much; try to maintain the original shape of the furniture.
Then use a soft cloth dampened with water to wipe away all the sanding powder.
3. First coat of paint
First, dip a small amount of paint into the paint bucket with a brush. Paint from top to bottom and from left to right. Don't forget to paint the corners and hidden areas.
4. Let the furniture air dry.
Leave the furniture that has been painted for four to five hours to air dry naturally until the paint is completely dry.
5. Polish again
After the paint has dried completely, sand it again with fine sandpaper. Sand down any uneven areas to make it easier to apply another coat of paint later.
6. Apply the second coat of paint.
Xiudada's tip: If the paint is too thick, you can add some rubber water to neutralize and dilute it. Continue to let it dry and sand. Then apply a third coat of paint. Wait for it to dry again.
7. Install the handle
Reinstall the removed handles and decorations.
The furniture painting is complete.
Xiudada kindly reminds you: Two sanding sessions are required during the three-coat painting process. Be patient and wait for it to dry completely. This will ensure a better furniture restoration result. You can also refer to the article "What are the uses of furniture repair paste?"
