【Xiaoju and Xiaoji】

I went to buy flowers with the mother of my classmate Xiao Wang, who is good at potted plants. We chose small green chrysanthemums. A few weeks later, I came back to see that the small chrysanthemums at home were still blooming. I was amazed at its long flowering period, which is worthy of being called a long-lived flower.

When it first started to get cold, I accidentally discovered a field of autumn chrysanthemums in full bloom in an uninhabited scenic spot in Ningxia. I was so excited that I used up all my battery power there.

Maybe it's because of the soil and water in the desert oasis that the small chrysanthemums here grow particularly well. The leaves have turned yellow and withered, but the flowers are still full of vitality. There is even a kind of small pink chrysanthemum, so many flowers grow from all directions and gather together. If you don't look carefully, you will think it is a big chrysanthemum. The more you look at it, the more it looks like a little lion dog.

Compared with the large chrysanthemums that bloom one by one, small chrysanthemums are more prosperous. Although small chrysanthemums are often used as matching flowers in flower art and flower arrangement works, when placed in a vase at home, a handful of small chrysanthemums in single or multicolored colors can ignite the vitality of the whole house.

The chrysanthemums may look similar, but they are all different in variety and color, or in the color of the center of the flower, or in the shape of pointed or round petals, or round and cute or slender and delicate...

Because of the characteristics of the chrysanthemum, I like to put it in various ceramic containers, such as the black pottery kettle I bought and the Yunnan tea-brewing pot, which are all natural and appropriate flower vases.

Chrysanthemum is homophonic with "ji", which means good luck. If you don't know what flowers to buy, bring back a bunch of auspicious chrysanthemums, which will accompany you to bask in the sun for a long time in winter.

【Carnation and Coral】

If the champion of flowering period is chrysanthemum, the next one is carnation.

Carnations are well known as the representative flowers of Mother's Day. There are two types: single-headed and multi-headed. The multi-headed ones have a nickname, called "Xiaokang". Generally, the single-headed ones have a longer vase flower period.

Pantone has just released the popular color for next year - Living Coral. You can choose some coral carnations and match them with ivory gerberas to immediately fill the room with a soft and intimate feeling.

Carnations need to have their water changed more frequently than chrysanthemums. The leaves of the flowers that enter the water must be removed, otherwise they will easily rot and affect the flowering period. This is the same for all fresh cut flowers when placed in a vase. If the vase is transparent, it can also ensure a clean and fresh look.

When changing the water, cut the flower stems a little bit at an angle. Make sure the water inlet is always clean. The part of the carnation flower stem that enters the water is more likely to become sticky and yellow. When changing the water for maintenance, in addition to cutting the roots, you can rinse them with water.

Carnations are fresh cut flowers that can be purchased all year round. In winter, you might as well choose some fiery red ones and dot them among the thick cineraria with a high-grade gray texture, like lighting a small fireplace.

[Peony and Little Lion]

Next is my favorite peony.

Flowers with the word "foreign" in front of their names are all introduced. The foreign peony got its name because its flower shape after blooming resembles a peony. It also has many other names - ranunculus, land lotus, and celery flower.

If you see a flower with leaves, you will understand why it is called celery flower. Arranging the leaves of peony is like picking celery in the kitchen.

The reason why I like it so much is because of the changes.

From the inconspicuous buds before blooming, with bent stems, brittle flower heads, and layers of "celery leaves", to the petals that gradually unfold with a velvety luster, the power contained in them will hit you.

【Gladiolus and Rose】

Gladiolus, also known as gladiolus, has a more ancient name. Its leaves are like swords, and its flowers bloom step by step, gradually getting better. Because of the meaning of gladiolus, it has been listed as one of the four major fresh cut flowers for many years.

Gladiolus is a linear flower material, which is very suitable for long-lined flower vases. The appearance of striving to grow upwards is atmospheric and warm.

Rose, a symbol of beauty and love.

A wild rose variety with tiny flower heads and numerous thorns all over its body. Roses were domesticated a long time ago, and literature records that it is one of the oldest cultivated varieties.

Nowadays, many of them are hybrid horticultural varieties with roses, with many colors and shapes, and some even have a faint fragrance. Just hearing the names - Holiday Princess, Snow Mountain, Rainbow... makes you want to take care of it.

Because roses have a Western style, they will add points to a flower vase with a sense of style. If well maintained, the blooming period of roses will not disappoint. Most importantly, roses are also an excellent material for making dried flowers.

In winter, there is no need to change water and clean the plants as frequently as in summer, and the flowering period of flowers is generally longer than in summer.

In fact, there are many other flowers that have a very long flowering period. For example, gentian, anthurium, gerbera. The reason why I chose chrysanthemum, daisy, ranunculus, gladiolus and rose is that I think these fresh cut flowers can be found in large flower markets or small flower shops on street corners. And they are easy to take care of, which is equivalent to the favorite of lazy people.

Especially in the cold north, where the outdoors are covered with gray branches like iron wires and silver hooks, placing some colorful, warm and fragrant flowers in the room can add a little thought and surprise to life.
