The secrets of 20 of the most amazing magic tricks
We all loved magic when we were kids. Wizards could make the impossible possible right before our eyes! Of course, as we grew up, we realized magic doesn't exist, and there must be some trickery involved. But that doesn't mean we can explain what we see!
For the first time, we've revealed how magicians perform some of their famous tricks. If you thought you knew how they do it, this might still surprise you. It's time to bring out our wands!
1. Walking on water

This is a magician who appears to be walking on the River Thames in London, England. In street magic performances, you can see how he walks on water, attracting the attention of thousands of passersby. He is a perfect symbol: someone who seems to be doing the impossible in front of Westminster Palace. He brings a biblical representation to the modern world. Learn how he works below...

This cunning guide fooled all of them. Most importantly, magic is the ability to perform, and this man didn't disappoint anyone. As can be seen from the photos, all he did was walk on a plexiglass box placed on the water. Are you surprised? Since it's practically impossible to stand on water, this is the only logical explanation we can find. In any case, to get on stage without anyone seeing it is a remarkable achievement!
2. Suspension

Anyone walking through tourist hotspots in London or New York is bound to see one. Strolling down the street, you'll be drawn to this man who seems to float right in front of you. How does it make you look so natural, so comfortable? Many people stop to stare at it for minutes, or even take pictures with it. While touching it is not allowed, you can certainly try it with your hand to see how it stays suspended in the air. Want to know how it does it?

In reality, this person is sitting quietly on a rather complex platform system connected to the structure. As you can see, someone has drawn the system in which he is sitting in mid-air. Everything is assembled, and the person is simply sitting in a seat on a bar resting on his sleeve. Sitting in the chair gives the impression of floating! It's truly a hoax! Have you seen it?
3. Cut the guide in half.

It's one of the most famous magic tricks in the world. The magician places his assistant inside a box and cuts it in half in front of the audience. But that's not all! In some cases, the trick is taken to its extreme. Sometimes, the box separates completely as the legs move to the other side of the stage. How do magicians and their assistants use this technique? Let's find out now...

Of course, we know he never split it in two. Then, all of this must be logically explained. The magician would certainly have the help of his assistants. But it's not one assistant, it's two! Yes, there's an assistant in each box, meaning the leg we see on one side doesn't belong to the assistant's face we see on the other side. When we think about it, this makes sense!
4. The Floating Woman

This kind of magic trick is usually performed directly in front of the audience. The levitation woman (or object) is one of the simplest and most impressive tricks out there. Just when you think you've got the knack, the magician goes even further. Suddenly, she wraps herself up in a huge circle, bypassing the audience! How is that possible? Of course, there must be a plausible explanation for this kind of "magic." Let's find out on the next page.
Therefore, the assistant must be supported in one way or another. We know that since the iron hoop has no string, how does it float? Well, it's simple. The assistant simply lies on a table, with a telephone pole held up on the table, invisible to the public. And then there's the hoop? Well, the magician can easily make the hoop go around, giving the impression that it keeps going around the woman. In reality, it does it twice, stopping at the support pillar and immediately returning to the starting position. The hoop never goes around the assistant.
5. Take a rabbit out of the hat.

This is another classic wand and hat magic trick! We think everything we know about magic might be related to this special technique. Throughout the performance, the magician wears a hat. But what happens next? All he does is wave his wand, and a real rabbit appears! How can a rabbit suddenly appear? Find out on the next page...

Where did the rabbit come from? This little animal couldn't be worn on the hat forever, so it had to be introduced at some point. Therefore, as we can see here, the rabbit was actually hidden on the table, comfortably housed in a bag. Then, with just a slight movement of the hand, it could be quickly slipped into the hat until we saw it! It's good to know that magic doesn't harm the animal's well-being!
6. Use your teeth to cut the coin in half.

In this magic trick, the magician strives to demonstrate their impressive strength! The trick works like this: Generally, he or she will ask a volunteer for a coin. Once they have their favorite coin, they will start biting it fiercely! Have you ever bitten a coin and cut it in half? We think no one could. Copper itself is strong enough to withstand high pressure. So what do you do? Did you actually manage to do it?
Obviously, it's nothing! The magician would never have the opportunity to cut a coin in half by biting it, so he must have a fake coin. You can easily get them at a magic shop. But what if the coin appears to have been borrowed from a volunteer audience member? That's a trick, a deception. As we said, magic is primarily a matter of skill.
7. Curved spoon

This trick is similar to the previous coin trick. The magician will receive a metal spoon that seems impossible to bend or manipulate. Without our noticing, he rubs it in a special way and produces something incredible. We could say he can manipulate the spoon at will! With simple, smooth movements, the spoon seems to completely melt and twist. Can a magician do this? Well, we'll see...

If it were a real spoon, the magician wouldn't do anything special. So, what happened: what can't we see? This is just another example of cunning manipulation. The magician holds a small object resembling a silver spoon. Then, through practice, he "moves" the spoon in one way while simultaneously "bending" it by holding the prosthetic arm in another. This illusion will dazzle everyone who sees it.
8. Folding Box

The zigzag is an interesting magic trick because it involves only minor variations on the principle of splitting someone in two. Although the assistant isn't completely separated, the way the box moves gives the impression that her body is completely split in the middle. In live performances, this is a popular illusion where the audience can see the magician's movements and the box spinning around the stage. But is it possible to do this in court? Of course not! Let's take a look…

Of course, she wasn't cut as badly as she appeared! We have a very talented assistant here, whose agility and flexibility are as impressive as her work. The truth lies in the shape of the box and the choreography of the two main characters. The box is actually deeper and wider than it appears. This means that guides can be inserted into parts not visible to the public. Then, all that's needed is to position the body correctly while moving the box.
9. Piercing the body

This is one of the most impressive tricks ever seen live. The magician climbs to the top of the stage and defies all the laws of gravity by carefully maintaining his balance at a single point. Until the tip passes through it! Then we see the magician open himself up. Without the laughter and cheers of the audience, we would say it was a terrifying moment. How did you do that?

Of course, it's not as simple as it sounds. It's similar to the levitation man we saw before. In that case, the magician could comfortably rest on a platform supporting his weight. But what about the tip? It's part of a system placed on your chest. Obviously, even without any sharp points piercing your body, don't forget how dangerous this trick is. First and foremost, don't try it at home!
10. Floating Glass

Have you ever been to a coffee shop and seen a magician at the entrance? It seemed he used a simple disposable glass and made it float right in front of us! We know this is impossible and there must be a trick to make it float in the air. Let's find out how he did it. Once you understand the principles of street magic, you can do it too.

Remember, magic isn't what you see, but what you can't see. Looking at this trick from another angle, you'll find it's quite simple. All you have to do is make a hole in the side of a glass and hide your thumb inside. The rest is up to you! Now it's time to lift the glass and let it believe it's floating. Try this trick to train yourself and impress your friends the next time you share coffee.
11. Sword Swallower

Beware, sensitive souls, don't hold back! A magician on the street or stage holds a long, sturdy sword, seemingly ready to devour it instantly! Seconds or minutes later, the magician removes it without a scratch. How do you do it? Can you learn this trick at home and show it to your friends? Let's see how this trick is actually done...
Undoubtedly, there's no fishhook here! In fact, it's completely real and requires months of rigorous training to execute. The magician assumes the proper posture and places the sword against the throat. Needless to say, this technique is extremely dangerous, and no one in your household should attempt it. Only professionals who know what they're doing should perform this magic trick. Even then, a small mistake could have fatal consequences.
12. Avoid the "smooth crime" style

We've all seen videos of Michael Jackson and his dancers bowing and bending over in a rather misleading way. The "Smooth Crime" dance video is spectacular in many ways, and this is one of the most memorable parts. But why are they all bowing like that? The famous moonwalk already seems mysterious, but this looks like real magic! Let's take a look at how they choreographed the show to move like that.

Michael Jackson could do many things, but bending over without any assistance was one of them! It turns out that for this, he needed a special shoe—actually, the shoe was fixed to the floor. The shoe had a triangular notch on the inside of the heel, which he used to hook onto a screw protruding from the floor. Then, using the strength of his upper body, he bent forward and held the pose. While it was a form of deception, it was impressive!
13. Lemon Bill

Most of us have seen different variations of this trick. Now, we'll be interested in the hidden magic trick of extracting a signed note from inside a lemon. We see this trick being promoted by Jamie Ravens during the 2015 UK Got Talent in the photos. A crow made her believe she was cutting a lemon and pulling out a hidden banknote. How did you do it? Let's take a look behind the scenes to find out.
We know the lemon didn't grow with the bill, so the magician must have put it on it, but when? Well, this seems to be another example of manipulation. If you watch the trick closely, you'll notice the magician quickly closes the lemon after taking out the bill. Why? The truth is, it covers up the hole previously made in the lemon. Everyone's attention is diverted, and he places the note inside when no one's looking. Very clever, Jamie, but we figured it out!
14. The cigarette is on your fingertips

How hot must a magician get to produce smoke with a snap of his fingers? Let's admit, it would be amazing to be able to do that. Let's see what happens. Typically, magicians rub their hands together and blow away the smoke, leaving the audience in awe. Let's see how it's done, because we know the King of Illusions doesn't actually have anything real!
First, let's look at the setup. If you're planning to do this trick at home, you'll need a box of matches. Carefully remove the rough parts from the sides. Then fold it in half and let it burn a little. As it burns, collect the remaining residue. This is the match we'll use to light our fingers. All that's left to do is rub it on your fingers and flick it. After the trick is done, don't forget to wash your hands to avoid ingesting the chemical.
15. Turn water into ice

This is one of the public's favorite magic tricks. The magician pours himself a glass of water and then explains that he wants an ice cube. What happens next is what makes the trick so interesting. Your glass suddenly fills with ice! We know water doesn't turn into ice in seconds... so what happens? Let's find out the amazing secret.
This is a magic trick that requires an accessory. So, think of something that can absorb ice and keep it cool. Yes, you guessed it. You'll need a sponge to do this. After pouring water into a glass, immediately absorb all the water with the sponge. Then display the ice cubes in the glass from the beginning. We'll have the impression that the water instantly turned into ice.
16. Pass through a wall

This is one of the most famous tricks, performed by illusion stars like David Copperfield. The magician uses nothing but a lit curtain, placed near a wall, and appears to step directly into it. When the curtain is lit on the other side of the wall, it seems to travel to the other side. Can anyone break through a wall? Probably not. We must figure out how the magic works.
The solution is simple. Of course, it won't go through the brick wall. We know you can't jump over it, so there's really only one thing you can do: go through the tunnel under the wall. Indeed, it's quite possible that a fake suit was created so the magician could slide into the tunnel under the wall and come out the other side. It's so obvious when you think about it!
17. Convert coffee into coins

David Blane's famous trick is known worldwide. The game begins with a pair of plastic coffee cups. The magician cuts them in half and fills them with coins. He then punches a small hole in the bottom of the larger glass and inserts a sponge into it. Finally, he places the coin-filled glass on top of the other glass and places his finger in the hole. This action causes the smaller glass to rise and release the coin. The coffee is then absorbed into the sponge.
18. Knife throwing trick

Historically, various magicians have used this technique for many years. What you do is place a huge wheel where your assistant is spinning, and the magician must throw knives at her, always millimeters away from her body. However, this is actually completely wrong, because instead of throwing them, he hides them in his palm and then specially creates a platform so that the knives come out at the same time they "should" fall. The previously embedded knives sprout, making them appear real.
19. Make the Statue of Liberty disappear.

This trick seems absolutely impossible! The famous David Copperfield, sitting in front of one of America's most famous landmarks, pulled a trick. After briefly covering the Liberty Statue, he made it completely disappear. Due to the monument's popularity, this is one of the most famous examples of disappearance. We doubt he even authorized its movement. Let's see how he did it.
David Copperfield never moved the statues. Yet, it left the entire audience bewildered! The public (and the film crew) were unaware that they were mounted on rotating pedestals. As the curtain rose, the audience began to turn… and after a few minutes, they were gradually turned to a place where the statues were no longer visible. So when it seemed to be displacing the audience, it simply displacing them!
20. Circular saw

David Copperfield has once again made this magic trick famous. This is the most visually striking and horrific version of what we commonly call the "woman-cutting trick," and for good reason. Apparently, there's no box, no mirror. The setup is simple: a person sits on a table (without a partition or box), and a large circular saw slices the body directly in half! Is the public truly witnessing this massacre?
Of course not, this isn't real! In another example, which we saw before explaining how to use two assistants, here's a person on a table. However, what makes this trick a little different is the way the legs are presented. They aren't real legs! You'll notice that, in most cases, the legs never move.
