The early budding stage of strawberries is a critical period for disease and pest control. What should you do? Follow me!

I hope that by sharing this information, we can exchange ideas with more growers and summarize better planting experiences.
Today, I'll share the most critical period for pest and disease control: before the initial budding of the first flush of flowers. During this time, preventative measures are essential. Let's discuss which pests and diseases need to be controlled.

The number one disease is powdery mildew . Prevent it twice before covering the greenhouse with plastic film, and spray again immediately after covering. Afterwards, regardless of whether it's been a month or not, prevent it at least twice more . Specific pesticides include Luna Sensate, Green Queen, Powdery Mildew Expert, azoxystrobin, and acetamiprid, etc. Physical methods include sulfur fumigation. Traditional methods include laundry detergent water and white liquor. In short, utilize all methods to control powdery mildew at the forefront.

The second disease, gray mold , should be prevented before covering the greenhouse with plastic film. After covering, preventative measures should be taken together with pesticides for powdery mildew. Specific pesticides include Jianda, Kaize, iprodione, procymidone, and Trichoderma habiben. Fumigants include iprodione and chlorothalonil smoke agents.
The third disease, aphids , should be treated immediately upon discovery. Pesticides include acetamiprid, imidacloprid, tebufenozide, and aphid-killing agents . Yellow sticky traps can be used to attract and kill aphids, or silver mulch can be laid .
The fourth disease, spider mites , generally only appear when temperatures are high. In most areas, outbreaks occur after the Spring Festival, when temperatures begin to rise. In some areas, they can occur throughout the entire flowering period. Specific pesticides include etoxazole (can be used before flowering), Jinmanzhi, acaricides, amanloxacin, and thiamethoxam . If possible, release mites to kill spider mites.
The fifth disease, thrips , mainly occurs after the Spring Festival, but prevention is still necessary now. The goal, like with spider mites, is to kill the eggs. Specific pesticides include Alumethoxam, imidacloprid, and acetamiprid.
The above five diseases are the most common and serious problems we encounter after covering the greenhouse with plastic film. As the flowers continue to bloom, spraying should be avoided during bee pollination, ideally before 9:30 AM or after 2:30 PM. When spraying insecticides, add an organosilicon adjuvant or half a pound of brown sugar (per sprayer) to enhance and prolong the effect.
Finally, and most importantly, why is prevention often ineffective? Many people neglect prevention , only treating the disease after it has already occurred. They then observe the effect after one application, checking daily for seven or eight days before concluding, "The medicine isn't working." I want to say, if residual disease is found, why not spray again immediately? Allow a 3-day interval. Because sprayers cannot achieve even and thorough application, if residue is found, spray again after 3 days.
Finally, regarding pesticide use, prepare at least two different pesticides for the same disease, alternating between them. If the same pesticide has been used twice consecutively, switch pesticides.
