Production of solid wood bed
This solid wood bed has a simple and bright shape, especially the cross-tenon joint between the bed board and the bed legs, which is very clever. The entire wooden bed is made without nails, glue, screws, etc. I personally think the design structure is reasonable and the style is simple. You can put a mattress on it, or you can lay a flat plate and sleep on it as a hard bed .

Main Materials:
Several fir boards, woodworking saws, woodworking planes, woodworking chisels, squares, sandpaper, pencils, etc. ( To purchase tools, please reply "tools" on the homepage to enter the Carpenter Circle WeChat store ).

Production steps:
Today, Carpenter Circle (WeChat ID: mujiangquan) brings you a tutorial on how to make a simple solid wood bed. First, go to the wood market and buy two pieces of 8*20*200 cm square wood, 20 pieces of 2*12*200 cm bed boards, and two pieces of 3*30*200 cm bed edge boards. Generally, you can choose the more affordable fir boards.

You also need a 140cm x 200cm mattress. Of course, the size can be adjusted according to your needs. Below are the production steps. Friends who are learning carpentry can DIY it.

Step 1:
Making the Bed Legs
Generally, the wood purchased at the wood market can be customized according to your own requirements. If you cut large wood yourself, you need a large sawing machine, which is also troublesome. First, stand the two pieces of 8*20*200 cm square wood you bought flat and upright to make the bed legs (as shown in the picture), and make a 2 cm horizontal groove every 8 cm on the bed legs. The horizontal groove is used to fix the bed board. After it is made, it can be planed flat with a woodworking plane .

Step 2:
Making bed boards
You need 20 2*12*200cm bed boards. Mark the positions at the 30cm indentation on both ends, overlap them vertically with the bed legs, and mark the overlap width lines on both sides. Then expand the markings on the other three sides, that is, the left and right sides, and also use a combination of pens or scoring knives to score. Then use a scoring knife to accurately mark the edges to be cut, ensuring that the bed board and bed legs pass through each other accurately.

The thickness of the cut is half of the width of the bed board, and the depth marks are marked on both sides. Then use a carpenter's saw to cut a 2 cm wide and 6 cm deep horizontal groove to form a cross tenon joint with the bed legs (as shown in the figure). Then use a chisel to cut each working surface and ensure that each surface is smooth. Check the degree of fit between the two pieces and make further cuts and adjustments if necessary.

Step 3:
Making the bed edge
The size of the two bed edges is 3*30*200 cm. If the width of the wood is not enough, you can use the mortise and tenon joints. Next, start assembling the bed board and bed legs. Since the size of the production is slightly different, match the appropriate bed boards one by one first, and then make adjustments if the size is not suitable. After assembly (as shown in the picture), use a marker to number the corresponding numbers for easy assembly next time . Then place the prepared bed edge board on both sides, and add round wooden tenons to the corresponding bed board head and bed edge board to fix it.

Step 4:
Sanding and painting
First use 180# coarse sandpaper, then 240# fine sandpaper, and finally 320# fine sandpaper. After 320# fine sandpaper, the sand marks are basically invisible on the parts, and they will be very smooth after the clear lacquer. In the past, it was often said that a carpenter is 30% carpenter and a painter is 70%. That was because in the past, covering lacquer was used, and the structure and polishing did not need to be fine. Now, transparent lacquer is used, which is mainly to show the texture of wood, so the treatment of the wood itself is very important.

Step 5:
Done!
In fact, the beds we use nowadays consist of two parts: a solid wood bed frame and a mattress. Experience tells us that a mattress should not be too hard, causing the hips and shoulders to exceed their normal curvature, nor should it be too soft, lest it be difficult to move the body during sleep.

Next is the solid wood bed shared in the Carpenter Circle today. First of all, it is stable and you won’t feel shaky when you sleep on it. Secondly, it has a bright shape and the height of the whole bed is lowered to the current popular 25~30 cm. [Carpenter Circle Network: http://www./]
