Repaired solid wood furniture looks brand new!

Oh my god, this is what I heard when my friend called, it gave me goosebumps. It turns out that my friend's solid wood table cracked, and he came to me to teach him how to repair it. I figured that others might encounter this problem, so I thought I'd share it with everyone here.

Regarding the repair of damage to solid wood furniture:

1. Remove scratches

If the paint on wooden furniture is scratched but the wood underneath is not exposed, you can use a crayon or paint that matches the color of the furniture to cover the exposed base color. Then, apply a thin layer of clear nail polish, and it will look almost the same as before.

II. Bubbling on the surface of furniture

If bubbles form on the decorative veneer, first use a sharp blade to make a cut along the wood grain in the middle of the bubble. Then, use a syringe to inject glue into the cut. Gently press down on the top of the bubble with your fingers, wipe away any excess glue with a damp cloth, and then weigh it down with a heavy object. To prevent a small amount of glue from overflowing and damaging the surrounding surface of the bubble after applying pressure, you can cover the bulging area with a layer of plastic film. This will make the decorative veneer smooth.

3. Removing watermarks

Water droplets left on furniture may leave water stains if not wiped dry immediately. To remove them, cover the stain with a damp cloth and carefully press the cloth several times with an iron. The stain will evaporate due to the heat. Be sure to use a cotton cloth, not a sponge or other cleaning tools, to avoid scratching your furniture.

IV. Repairing dents

Some furniture pieces, due to their softer wood, may develop dents after impacts, resulting in an uneven surface. To fix this, place a damp towel on the dent, then heat and iron it to restore its original shape. However, be careful not to let the iron directly contact the wood to avoid further damage. If the dent is deep, it may require filler material for repair.

V. Repairing Cracks

If solid wood furniture develops cracks due to thermal expansion and contraction, you can cut newspaper into small pieces, add an appropriate amount of alum and water, simmer over low heat until it becomes a thick paste, apply it to the cracks in the wooden furniture, and it will be very firm after drying, thus serving as a repair.

These simple methods can be used to repair minor damage. However, for more serious damage, professional repair tools and skills are required. Therefore, it is important to take good care of solid wood furniture regularly.
