New mom's diary of her child's daily outfits, part 12: Clothes make the man, and the child's wardrobe always seems to be missing a new piece.

It's said that a woman's wardrobe is always missing one more item of clothing, and ever since becoming a mother, I always feel like my child's wardrobe is missing one too. Before, when buying myself a coat, I'd compare prices for ages and wouldn't easily buy anything that wasn't right. Now, if I see something nice and comfortable, I want to buy it for my child. It seems this mother has finally gone from being cautious to spending money like water. This article details my daughter's daily outfits from newborn to now, and I'll explain it in detail using a mind map.

01

Basic outfits for infants

For infants, the main clothing items are rompers, baby dolls, and onesies. I also bought a few two-piece outfits, but we only wore the tops and covered the bottoms with gauze or a towel. Since Pea was born in October, and the house was around 23 degrees Celsius with the heating on, she would get eczema if dressed too warmly. Babies grow so fast that you can't stock up on too many clothes. My aunt bought several outfits when the baby was born, still with the tags on, but they became too small and had to be given away. My maternal grandmother bought three or four sets, which were only worn for a short time.

monk's robe

The monk's robe I bought is from Rabbi . Rabbi's clothes are relatively comfortable because they're made of pure cotton, and they don't pill no matter how many times they're washed. My mom went all out and bought two. She always says I'm raising my child too pampered, that kids don't need such expensive things. In my generation, wearing patched clothes and using handmade backpacks was common, and we still grew up. But even though I'm grown up, I still feel insecure. During my school years, I wore ill-fitting, baggy pants, and classmates would often tease me, saying they'd never seen me wear clothes that fit properly. After having a child, my thinking has slowly changed. I choose clothes that suit me and my child, prioritizing comfort over price.

Set

The outfit consists of two quilted English-style pieces, one top and one bottom. Pea only wore the top. Because of the quilting, it was still quite warm in the heated room. However, the outfit itself is quite nice; the pants have Velcro closures, making them very comfortable to wear.

The newborn baby received 18 sets of quilted cotton-padded clothes for autumn and winter. The clothes shed a little, but there's a good variety, including both two-piece and one-piece sets. The baby's maternal grandmother thinks the fabric feels particularly nice; older people generally believe the thicker the better. Personally, I think I made a mistake and should have bought thinner sets.

bodysuit

Onesie is so convenient for toddlers; it's easy to put on and take off, and it also makes diaper changing a breeze. But once they get a little older and can roll over, crawl, and walk, onesies become a bit harder to put on.

I've mentioned PurCotton and Uniqlo bodysuits in Part 8 of my parenting guide for programmer moms: Recommended Good Products and Useless Products on the Parenting Journey, so I won't go into detail here.

Tongtai is a brand that I, as a mother, really like. My daughter, Wandoudou, owns several onesies from them. Although the styles are simple, the quality is quite good. Many children in our neighborhood wear their clothes. If you're looking for value for money, they're a top choice.

I bought one long-sleeved and one short-sleeved romper from Mini Balabala . The overall design of the clothes is quite good, but they weren't very suitable for my chubby little one, as they were too tight on her. However, the cut was very nice. She wore them for about a week or two before they were too small, as she gained weight and the clothes ended up at the bottom of the drawer. The quality of their clothes is okay. During their newborn promotion, they even gave my little one a thick romper as a gift, which is the one she's wearing in the picture below.

Balabala , this onesie is quite hot in the summer. It's especially baggy on Pea, but people always call her "little sister" because of the red pattern on the front. I wore it two or three times, but it was too big, so I put it away. If she likes it next summer, she can wear it again.

This onesie fits Pea perfectly, but his face is already big, so the striped clothes make him look even more sturdy. People always say he's chubby, but with his big face, it always makes people misunderstand my little pea's physique. I bought the 73cm size; I suggest buying a size up, kids grow so fast.

This Gap long-sleeved hooded onesie feels a bit rough to the touch, but it looks great. It's especially suitable for wind protection in spring and autumn. My baby, Wandoudou, seems to have worn this outfit for a long time, starting from five months old and continuing to wear it as she got older. I bought a size too big, as it didn't fit her well when she was younger. Gap clothes tend to be slimmer and not suitable for chubby babies.

I bought a size 59cm Gap romper, but it shrunk after only one or two wears. The quality is pretty good though; it has a thick fleece lining that's very warm and windproof.

I bought this Gap baby thermal down onesie when he was very young. His dad said he didn't want to use a swaddle blanket for vaccinations, it's too tiring. I thought buying a down jacket would be easier and less stressful, but after trying it on him once, he cried and was covered in sweat. The only downside of this jacket is that it's too warm; my baby cried from the heat.

My baby, Wandou, wore this Mylabella onesie for quite a while. When we went out for vaccinations, she wore this along with a blanket, and I wasn't worried about her getting cold. This newborn romper is of good quality, very thick, and most importantly, easy to put on and take off, suitable for newborns or very young babies.

I bought a long-sleeved romper and a short-sleeved bodysuit from Beibeiyi. The short-sleeved onesie has car patterns, which my daughter loves, so she liked it. The long-sleeved onesie has a simpler design, but it still looks quite cool on her.

Bag and panties

The Balabala bodysuit set includes three pieces, suitable for wearing as outerwear in spring and autumn, and as a base layer in winter. The advantage of bodysuits is that they prevent the baby's belly from showing while playing, protecting the baby's tummy. However, a disadvantage is that they can sometimes feel tightness.

02

Suit outfit

underwear

Uniqlo's thermal underwear is quite well-designed, made of pure cotton. I mentioned it in Part 8 of my parenting guide for programmer moms: Recommended Good Products and Useless Products on the Parenting Journey, so I won't go into details here.

David Bella 's clothes are all very stylish. I bought a set of thermal underwear for my daughter, Wandoudou, but after washing it, the material doesn't seem very good. When I first received it, it felt like soft cotton paper, but after washing, the fabric became a bit stiff. This was my first time buying clothes from David Bella. I saw a pair of bunny pants that cost over 100 yuan, but I couldn't bring myself to buy them. Even after discounts, their prices still seem quite expensive.

t-shirt

I bought the Balabala summer set from Suning.com. They had a big promotion at the time, so I bought two sets for 80 yuan. Balabala clothes are generally good in style and quality; it's a must-buy store for infants and toddlers. The only problem is that the white T-shirt got rust on it at my grandma's house, and it's a bit difficult to wash.

My mother quite likes this HM outfit, especially the floral pants, which she really loves. They're super cool and mosquito-repellent in the summer. The T-shirt is a bit big, so my daughter can wear it as pajamas or loungewear. Overall, it's a pretty practical outfit.

03

Jacket

Long-sleeved T-shirt

I bought two T-shirts from H&M, and both had a very strong smell, which my child doesn't like to wear. I thought the brand would have strict quality control over infant and toddler clothing, so how could they smell so bad? As a mother, I just can't understand it. I even bought two more, which are now just sitting at the bottom of the drawer.

coat

When we went back to my maternal grandma's house in the summer, she insisted on buying clothes for the baby. So she went to all the shopping malls and bought a three-piece tracksuit for Wandoudou. Grandma was worried that the baby would grow too fast, so she bought a size 110cm, but it wasn't too big for Wandoudou at all; in fact, it fit her perfectly. Here, I want to thank my loving maternal grandma who always thinks about my child. It's the outfit Wandoudou is wearing in the picture below.

This Balabala winter coat, with its cute bear design, is perfect for wearing from spring to fall. My mom bought it in size 80, and I think it can be given away after the New Year. It was a great deal to get this coat during a sale; it's adorable and warm.

down jacket

As soon as winter arrived, Auntie bought the kid a down jacket! At first, he absolutely refused to wear it, thinking it was too big and thick, and the hood would block his eyes. Pea didn't like it at all. But when it got cold, he wore the down jacket his auntie bought him and rode his scooter, looking quite the cool kid in the neighborhood.

The Balabala onesie down jacket looks quite stylish. At first, my husband said it wouldn't be convenient for a child this big to wear a onesie, but after buying it, I (the mother) found it easy to put on and take off, and the child is quite happy wearing it. One down jacket's down drawback is that it attracts a lot of lint and hair; my daily routine now consists of taking pictures of it.

quilted shirt

I bought a quilted shirt from David Bella for my child during the Double Eleven sale – a matching set for us. I already have the exact same shirt; as a programmer, my kid absolutely needs a plaid shirt. It's really thick; I feel like we won't need it at all if Beijing winters aren't too cold, but it'll be nice to wear it as outerwear in the spring.

cotton-padded jacket

It seems like every kid on the street is wearing this Uniqlo down jacket, and it's so common to see people wearing the same thing. It's like Tiger brand thermos flasks – everyone thinks it's good, so everyone buys it, and then everyone ends up with the same thing. I feel the design of this down jacket isn't very good; the hood is hard to remove and keeps falling down, and the collar design is also poor, letting in a lot of wind. It's probably more suitable for early winter.

04

Pants

shorts

I need to stock up on a few loose-fitting shorts for summer. These shorts make my child look like a big kid. I bought a gray, easy-to-match top with nice material and a cute pattern on the back.

Casual sportswear

H&M's casual sweatpants are anything but casual; in fact, they're quite form-fitting. These pants pair perfectly with a Balabala bodysuit.

I bought a pair of green casual pants from a small shop on Taobao. They're very comfortable and look great, especially with a white T-shirt. I really like these pants. I bought a size 90, and I hope I can still wear them after spring.

quilted trousers

I bought these quilted and fleece-lined trousers from Balabala. They're a bit thin, so they're perfect for early spring and autumn. I bought the red ones, and they really stand out in a crowd.

These gap-lined fleece-lined pants are just a thin layer of fleece, not enough to keep out the cold, but they look really stylish. My friend's legs even look better in these pants! Hahaha.

Tongtai's fleece-lined pants are also good. My aunt bought Wandoudou's thick pants, which are also from Tongtai. They are quite thick. Wearing a pair of thermal leggings and then Tongtai fleece-lined pants will allow her to get through the winter smoothly.

05

other

Bibs

Babies need bibs when they're teething, and I bought Lotus 360° bibs, which aren't too hot to wear in the summer. The other triangular bibs were gifts from the manufacturer during a parenting activity, and PurCotton also gave me two triangular bibs. Later, I discovered that bibs can also be used as everyday accessories, helping with drooling in the summer and preventing drafts in the winter.

Waist circumference

I stocked up on three sleeping bags when my baby was little, and now that they're older, they've started wearing sleeping bags. When my baby was little, my tummy was very prone to getting cold or getting gas, and keeping my tummy warm reduced those problems.

scarf

I absolutely love this Balabala scarf! The fabric is so comfortable, and it looks great on. Unlike those thick scarves that you have to wrap around your neck several times, this one is simple; you can just wrap it around once. I bought the black one because it's dirt-resistant.

I recently spotted a scarf from the ibaby store that looks incredibly warm. I'm going to stock up on another one next winter, so I'd better hold onto my wallet.

hat

Hats were mentioned in Part 4 of our "New Mom's Daily Care Tools Recommendation: 0-1 Year Old Daily Care Shopping Guide," so I won't go into detail here. This Balabala hat, which is adorably cute, is a terrible experience. It attracts a lot of lint, and even after washing, it feels like it hasn't been washed at all. My child doesn't like wearing it either, so it's currently unused.

I bought two baby hats from HappyPrince. The first one, a yellow one with a little pea-shaped head, was too big for her to wear, and the second one was too big, so I had to wear it myself. They specialize in baby hats, but they're a bit pricey.

The Koyubi summer fisherman's hat is quite cute; I bought it for Pea's outings. But when she wears it, people always mistake her for a little girl.

Gloves

Winter is here, and riding a scooter makes my hands freeze. I bought my kid a pair of gloves, which are still in my down jacket pocket. No matter how cold it is, they can't withstand my kid's stubbornness. He refuses to wear them, and if I force him to wear them, the gloves will just get torn.

shoe

Goodbaby's first pair of walking shoes was a great choice. Many moms recommended Mikihouse shoes, but I thought they were too expensive, so I bought this red pair instead. My daughter, Wandoudou, seems to like them. The design is similar to Mikihouse shoes, and the price is reasonable; I bought them for 80 yuan.

I bought two pairs of Dr. Kong shoes, one for autumn and one with a fleece lining for winter. My husband said it wouldn't be good for the child to wear those red shoes all the time, so we should stock up on a few more pairs. Overall, Dr. Kong shoes are okay, but considering my child's preferences, he still prefers Nike. I've already talked about Nike shoes in Part 8 of my parenting guide for programmer moms: Recommended Good Products and Useless Products on the Parenting Journey, so I won't go into detail here.

sleeping bag

I've bought two types of Tongtai sleeping bags, one for summer and one for winter. The summer one is one size fits all and looks great, but my baby (Pea) is too old for it now. The winter one is supposedly wearable until age three; it's very thick. Babies usually don't stay covered by blankets, so a sleeping bag is essential.

The Ouyun sleeping bag was recommended by a friend. Compared to the Milerfish sleeping bag, it's more cost-effective. I bought it during a promotion, so the price was very reasonable. My baby, Wandou, doesn't like snap-button clothes, and as a typical mom, a zippered sleeping bag is much better. There are many sleeping bags on the market, including some with advanced temperature-regulating technology, but those are quite expensive. Choosing the right sleeping bag for your baby isn't easy.

That's it for now. I've written about some outfits, on and off for two days. True to my professional nature, I love analyzing>
