Keep your furniture looking shiny and new

Home maintenance is probably one of the biggest headaches for housewives. Expensive furniture looks brand new when you bring it home, but after a while, the colors become dull. If you don't clean it properly, it won't restore its original color and may even damage the furniture – a lot of effort for little reward! Here are some home maintenance tips we've compiled for you; why not give them a try?

First: Use egg white to wipe a soiled leather sofa. You can use a clean flannel cloth dipped in egg white to wipe it. This will not only remove the stains but also make the leather surface shine like new.

Second: Use toothpaste to clean the refrigerator exterior. For general dirt on the refrigerator exterior, use a soft cloth with a small amount of toothpaste to gently wipe it away. If the stains are stubborn, apply more toothpaste and wipe repeatedly with the cloth. The refrigerator will then regain its shine. This is because toothpaste contains abrasives, making it very effective at removing dirt.

Thirdly, use milk to wipe wooden furniture. Soak a clean cloth in expired milk (it's no longer drinkable), then use this cloth to wipe wooden furniture such as tables and cabinets. It's very effective at removing dirt. Finally, wipe it again with clean water. For painted furniture that has accumulated dust, you can wipe it with tea leaves wrapped in a damp gauze, or wash it with cold tea water, which will make it cleaner and brighter.

Fourth: Use white radish to clean the kitchen countertop. Cut a white radish and use it with detergent to scrub the kitchen countertop. It will produce unexpected cleaning results. You can also use sliced cucumber or carrot instead, but white radish works best.

Fifth: Clean plush sofas with alcohol. For plush fabric sofas, use a brush dipped in a little diluted alcohol to brush the surface, then dry with a hairdryer. If there are juice stains, mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with water, then use a cloth to wipe the stain, and the stain will fade.

  6. Apple cores remove grease. Kitchen sinks often have a layer of grease. If you happen to have just eaten an apple, you can use the core to scrub away the grease. This is because apple cores contain pectin, which has the effect of removing grease.

  7. Use salt to remove soup stains from carpets. In families with children, soup often gets spilled on carpets. Never wipe it with a wet cloth. First, use a clean, dry cloth or towel to absorb the moisture. Then, sprinkle some salt on the stain. After the salt has been absorbed, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the salt. Finally, use a brush to smooth the carpet.

  8. Using ice cubes to remove chewing gum: Some children like to chew gum and may accidentally get it on the carpet. Chewing gum stuck to the carpet is very difficult to remove. You can put ice cubes in a plastic bag, cover the chewing gum with it, and after about 30 minutes, when it feels hard to the touch, remove the ice cubes and brush it off.

Number 9: Clever use of plastic wrap – this is a lazy person's trick. Stick plastic wrap on the wall near the stove in the kitchen. Because plastic wrap adheres easily and is transparent, it's not easily noticeable to the naked eye. After several weeks, when the plastic wrap is covered in grease, simply peel it off and reapply a new layer – effortless! For busy housewives, this is a convenient and lazy method.

  10. Polishing Method for Solid Wood Furniture: Water-based wax can be sprayed directly onto the surface of solid wood furniture, then wiped dry with a soft cloth. The furniture will then be clean and bright. If scratches are found on the surface, apply cod liver oil first, and wipe it with a damp cloth after one day. Additionally, wiping with concentrated salt water can prevent wood rot and extend the life of the furniture.
