Introduction to super practical capsule wardrobe: How to use the least number of items to have the richest and highest quality outfits?
The capsule wardrobe fashion style has become increasingly popular in Europe and the United States in recent years.
The reason for its popularity is that more and more people realize that, rather than the number of items that continue to accumulate in life, fine quality, a pleasant mood, and the feeling of being surrounded by the things they love are what we who pursue happiness should actively strive for and practice.
A "capsule wardrobe" means setting a fixed number of clothes (for example, 37 pieces per season) and saving more time and energy through more selective purchases and smarter matching combinations, discarding redundant clothes that are not used in the wardrobe all year round, making fashion matching easy but textured.
The benefits of a capsule wardrobe include:
1. Save as much time as possible in the morning by organizing things according to the seasons and displaying them clearly.
2. Invest your limited money in truly worthy fashion items
3. Although the amount of clothing hoarded has decreased, every item is something I like and cherish. The momentary happiness when buying material things is very short, but the happiness of being surrounded by cherished items for a long time is invaluable.
Everyone can build a capsule wardrobe that suits them according to their own situation.
Of course, everyone's method will be different, here I share the basic steps I summarized:
(1) Establish your personal style and wearing occasions
Carefully list the regular outfits you wear every day from Monday to Sunday. This will help you understand how often different items are worn.
A simple and intuitive way is:
Before going out every day, when you routinely examine yourself in front of the dressing mirror, take a full-body photo with your mobile phone (it doesn’t matter if the photo is not beautiful, it’s just for your reference).
After doing this for a week, you will have a more intuitive feeling about what you are wearing.
By recording your daily outfit, you need to figure out the following:
* What are the items that appear most frequently on the Internet? For example, jeans, coats, a favorite sweater... The items that appear on the Internet every day are the most worthwhile items to invest in when you buy them again in the future.
* Your current main color and clothing style, and the difference between them and your expected style
* What areas need to be improved urgently and their priority
(2) Pay attention to what is redundant and what is repeated
Find an evening when you have relatively ample time and put away all the clothes in your closet that “you think you’ll wear but never have the occasion to wear” - these are redundant.
If you wear black sweaters for four consecutive days and they are surprisingly similar, you can consider replacing two of them, such as pilling, static electricity, etc., and replace them with other colors or items with detailed features.
When the total number of clothes is reduced, spread them out on the bed or floor at night, not in the morning before going to work, and try to match them more. See if there are new matching inspirations, and how to add color with single items such as scarves, necklaces, and bags. (3) Create a personal clothing palette
Once a capsule wardrobe is implemented, it takes a lot of wisdom to figure out how to achieve more with less and how to achieve great results with little effort.
At this point, creating your personal clothing palette becomes a necessary step.
Xiaobei himself is not a color matching expert, so I followed the color palette suggestions of a blogger Anushka :
Main colors - 3
Neutral colors - 2
Highlight colors - 2-3
Take the above picture as an example. The main color refers to the color that appears most often in your clothes. It cannot be black, white or gray. Here, it is the flesh pink, navy blue, and camel shown in the second row.
Neutral colors: black, white, and gray are neutral colors that can add a sense of depth to the colors without destroying the color harmony. In the picture above, they are black and white.
Key (emphasis) colors: refers to colors that do not appear so often, but can increase the diversity and richness of the matching. The example given in the picture above is 5, in the last row, including wine red, sky blue, bright red, macaron green and turmeric.
These colors are not rigid, but vary from person to person. In the future, we will have a special article to explain and give examples about the color palette, so please stay tuned.
(4) Identify your favorite items
Everyone has one or more items that they like the most and wear most often.
Maybe you don't pay much attention to it, and it's not on your "favorite list". But when you open your wardrobe and try on all the items and are not satisfied with them, you will still grab those two or three items and put them on.
Whether you admit it in your heart or not, these most popular pieces of clothing are actually your favorite items.
If you have a favorite item, such as a denim jacket, then you should pay more attention to the various combinations of this item (denim jacket) in your daily life, and you should be willing to invest in it.
You should also try as many ways as possible to pair denim jackets with them and put them in various wearing scenarios.
(5) Establishing a classic combination
Classic combinations are not something you come up with on the spur of the moment, but something you create in your spare time through thinking, matching, and trying on in front of a mirror.
For example:
Classic combination 1 = striped wool sweater + dark gray coat + woolen skirt + black tights + black cowhide boots + bucket bag + honey-colored belt watch
Classic combination 2 = white turtleneck sweater + flesh pink wool skirt + burgundy nail polish + burgundy suede boots + burgundy chain bag + light gold Loop earrings
The advantage of establishing a classic combination is that by using ample time and thought, the combination you come up with is very classic, you will feel comfortable when you wear it, and you will be very confident.
Whether it's an important occasion, an everyday occasion, or an occasion when you don't know what to wear, you can instantly put on a classic combination.
You've finished reading such a long article, thank you for your hard work!
If you have a mobile phone, don’t just look at it, but also go back and organize and practice in front of the wardrobe and mirror!!
Enjoy!
