I've been getting a lot of inspiration for my everyday outfits from these three people lately, and I'd like to share it with you.

More than one girl has told me, "Pan, I've thought about it and I'd better not show you to my friends. What if you become famous and don't write as well as you do now?" Or, "No, I want to become beautiful on my own."

That's why I've never become famous.

Is he naughty, An? He really is a naughty kid!

I turned to think about it, and realized I've had those same thoughts, those calculating moments. For example, sometimes I share cheap and useful little things on 008 and 009, and if something is likely to sell out quickly, I'll secretly stock up on some before sharing it; I even have some brands I'm reluctant to mention...

I don't usually follow fashion trends, but while collecting images for my articles, I come across many great outfit inspirations . I was initially inclined to keep them a secret, in case they were discovered... Just kidding! How could I!

But I feel that if I don't write about this topic, how will you understand what selflessness is? So let me do it...

I do n't really imitate how popular celebrities dress , so you'll see I rarely write about celebrities, like what Yang Mi is promoting this week; how Zhou Dongyu outshines all the shorter girls; or how Dilraba's airport street style has reached new heights. I don't know how to write about it, and I don't learn to, because everyone knows I only wear basic pieces.

I don't even read other people's public accounts much, firstly because I'm afraid of having the same theme and feeling awkward, and secondly because I don't want to deliberately follow fashion trends . However, I also have my own style icon.

These three are the sources of inspiration for my recent outfits.

Lately, when I open my closet and don't know what to wear, or when I feel listless about dressing up before going out, I look at photos of these three women and I always find new inspiration . I have a lot of photos of them on my phone, and each of their clothing styles has its own points of reference .

Okay, I'll just go for it.

Today I'll share the dressing tips from three of my recent style icons.

Girl-woman complex

Ena Matsumoto

Girls who follow Japanese fashion trends are bound to know this girl, Ena Matsumoto.

Former model, design director of EMODA, and mother of a baby.

This is what a mother is like:

She has absolutely no motherly aura, and besides, she's only 1.58 meters tall ...

When introducing Ena Matsumoto, they always seem to say things like, "She's not very tall and not very pretty," which I just can't understand. She should be grateful to be this pretty...

They said my nose is too prominent, so does that mean I have to be like them with no bridge of my nose to be considered beautiful?

There are a bunch of fashionistas on Instagram, and to be frank, I don't know why many of them are fashionistas. These days, does posting too many photos automatically make someone a fashionista? But I've been following Ena Matsumoto for a long time. I don't really understand her writing in Japanese, but I just find her outfits very interesting .

If I had to describe Ena Matsumoto's style in one sentence, I would say, "a combination of Japanese girlishness and womanhood ," or " a model of loose-fitting style for petite women ," or "a perfect balance between Japanese and Western styles."

At the beginning of this year, her style really went astray, and I don't know what she was doing, but thankfully she came back later.

The most valuable lesson from Matsumoto's style is that she shows all slim and petite girls how to create a structured yet not bulky Japanese fashion look with simple, loose-fitting pieces .

I lack experience in wearing loose-fitting clothes because I always encourage people not to be relaxed from top to bottom. I always advocate "laziness with tension, and looseness with a good fit ." So when I'm really lacking inspiration for a typical Japanese style, I want to look at Matsumoto's photos.

First of all, Ena Matsumoto's style of dressing is typical of Japanese girls .

Pan also mentioned in her "Basic Item List | Practical Japanese Style Basic Item List More Suitable for Average Body Types" that three essential items are indispensable in the daily outfits of typical Japanese girls: hairstyle, makeup, and accessories .

Red lips are Ena Matsumoto's signature makeup, and her bangs above her eyebrows also suit her perfectly, adding a lot of style to her look. But what she uses most effectively are her bags and scarves .

Petite as she is, she's skipped large scarves and often opts for small silk scarves. A simple, close-fitting small silk scarf in a suitable color tied around her neck is a style I've been loving lately; especially when wearing loose clothing, this neatly tied scarf makes the whole look much more polished.

Matsumoto has excellent taste in bags , and bags are always an indispensable part of her style. However, unlike many fashion bloggers, she doesn't like to use strange and unusual bags. Instead, she uses classic black and white bags with minimalist designs.

Loose-fitting clothes are meant to showcase smooth lines and deconstructed cuts , and bags with simple lines are the perfect match for these clothes.

Those fancy bags are not suitable for loose and simple clothing . They not only fail to embellish the outfit but also ruin the overall style. This is the best lesson Matsumoto ever taught me about bags and clothes.

Secondly, Matsumoto has a fantastic sense of color .

She rarely wears floral clothes, except at the beginning of this year when she kept wearing them. I don't know what's wrong with her... Besides black and white, her clothes most often feature large blocks of color , and she's extremely bold with them—red, yellow, green, you name it. I especially love her use of large blocks of color; it's brilliant.

Besides using simple and direct black and white combinations like in the image above , her best approach to using large blocks of color is to use different shades within the same color family , such as grass green with jade green, or earthy yellow with brownish yellow, separated by basic colors . This avoids looking gaudy or overly bright.

Third, Matsumoto made me feel that I shouldn't give up platform shoes .

I used to really hate platform shoes. I thought platform shoes were a step backward for humanity. It's either high heels or flats, platform shoes, what kind of monster are platform shoes!

But look how she wears those platform shoes:

Matsumoto is petite and rarely wears flat shoes except for sneakers ; she mostly wears high heels and platform shoes. Her choice of platform shoes is very clever; she selects minimalist styles with a touch of design but absolutely no flashy details, which, combined with the platform sole, instantly create a sophisticated look.

Okay, so I bought those pink fluffy slippers that I wore eight hundred times this summer because of her...

If I had to say what else Matsumoto Ena taught me, it would definitely be that if you want to wear something like this, you'd better be a little thin . Life, sigh...

Authentic modern French woman

Caroline De Maigret

I often get requests from girls in the comments section of my public account to write about French women and French style of dress . I don't want to write about it because the essence of French women isn't about fashion, but about "100% self-acceptance." Without that, it's hard to truly embody the French style.

If I had to write about it, this is a perfect example: Caroline De Maigret, the low-key French supermodel .

Try searching for pictures of Caroline; you'll find the entire page is dark and somber—because she is the quintessential Parisian woman, born, raised, and living in Paris.

What is the first essential principle of Parisian women's dressing?

Too many highly saturated colors are a first-class failing .

Caroline uses color

What's even more remarkable is that she has brown hair (of course, French women typically have dark hair), and she also sports classic French bangs. Unlike American girls who dye their hair blonde and then wear dark colors as if it's perfectly natural, she uses her dark hair to create a unique and brilliant look with black, white, and gray .

Caroline is 42 years old this year. She has a happy family and is a loving mother, but!

Pan believes that she is one of the few female celebrities who has maintained a natural youthful spirit throughout her life , while at the same time possessing classic French elegance and femininity, which is inseparable from her famous androgynous style of dressing .

First of all, she is my idol when it comes to pants .

She doesn't like wearing skirts, she only likes wearing pants. All kinds of pants can be seen in her photos, such as jeans, harem pants, cigarette pants, wide-leg pants, bell-bottoms, etc.

Moreover, she never deliberately pursues the " showing ankles " trend that we would do anything to follow . Of course, this is also related to her natural physical advantages. However, in today's environment where not showing ankles is considered a fashion sin, seeing her wearing pants in her personal clothes gives the feeling that she is "simply messing around".

But I love her eccentricities! They give me endless inspiration for how to wear pants. For example, the very first thing I saw was wearing socks under my pants . I saw her wearing it and thought it was perfectly fine—warm and stylish.

She even wore those very comfortable pants in her own classic style .

Pan suggests that girls who are tall and slim like me should take inspiration from Caroline's outfits for weekend pants looks in autumn and winter, especially when you don't feel like dressing up. Just copying her style is the way to go.

Pan's love for Oxford shoes has already spread to everyone, right? The reason I like Caroline so much is because she is the female celebrity I have seen who loves and wears Oxford shoes the most . She wears Oxford shoes in five out of ten street photos .

Especially her classic street style of wearing trousers and Oxford shoes , which perfectly embodies the dashing spirit of a true Tomboy. All the youthful energy is contained in these Oxford shoes and wool trousers. Of all the ways female celebrities wear Oxford shoes, this is my favorite.

Third, she loves wearing suits, and the key is that no other female model does it better than her in making suits look casual and not for commuting .

She loves wearing suits, especially the real black, gray, camel, and navy blue ones, which can easily make her look very serious and old-fashioned if she's not careful.

She told us that "the most fashionable way to wear a suit is not to wear it as a suit." In her styling approach, a suit = a knit sweater = any outerwear . She pairs suits with all kinds of pants and all kinds of innerwear, but she doesn't pair them properly with trousers, skirts, or high heels. Randomly mixing and matching is her favorite way to wear suits.

In addition , it is also necessary to choose items with more details when buying them , and to dress them in a slightly informal manner when wearing them .

Seeing this makes me want to get a casual suit to wear right now...

Her signature tousled, seaweed-like hair also greatly contributed to this look, because a sleek updo would have completely ruined the French style.

Most importantly, Caroline shows us a possibility—a possibility of achieving classic style without chasing trends . The ultimate in women's chic doesn't really need any of the trendy elements, which perfectly aligns with my everyday dressing philosophy.

She never incorporates any trendy elements into her appearance (except when posing for brand photos); trends have absolutely nothing to do with her.

Or perhaps, fashion trends and Parisian women have little to do with each other.

Caroline De Maigret's style of dress reflects the influence of another famous French woman, Emmanuelle Alt , the editor-in-chief of Vogue France .

Both being predominantly neutral French styles, EA's style is more serious, professional, neutral, and calm compared to Caroline's. It lacks Caroline's eccentricities and capriciousness, and therefore also lacks that fun, casualness, and whimsy. That's why I don't like EA as much...

Comfortable youthful style

Kimehwa

She is the least famous of the three I wrote about today, but she is also the one I have been paying the most attention to recently.

Aunt Pan firmly believes that the principle of "wearing clothes appropriate for one's age" applies to more formal occasions , but in everyday casual life, please, modern women don't care about such things anymore; they just wear whatever they want .

Lately, I've been so exhausted that I don't have the energy to stand tall, tuck in my stomach, lift my buttocks, or wear anything that accentuates my curves. So , Kimehwa from Korea has become my main focus of research.

And I must admit that the reason I chose that silhouette and raglan sleeves when making the trench coat was also because of little Kimehwa.

When you're feeling down, Kimehwa is a great style reference: comfortable, safe , and understated, yet relaxed, cute , and likable, making it perfect for female students to study and use as inspiration.

First of all, for all you girls who always struggle with matching colors between socks and sneakers , head over to Kimehwa's website. She's a true sock expert.

To achieve a youthful and cute look , she rarely wears shoes barefoot and usually wears socks with her outfits.

Looking through her photos, you can see that her socks are basically only four colors: black, white, gray, and brown .

These four colors perfectly complement all her clothing colors and styles, and blend seamlessly with her various colors of sneakers, skate shoes, canvas shoes, slippers, and ankle boots . Without these four colors of socks, her outfits would lose much of their appeal.

She never wears high heels , so many girls who don't like or can't wear high heels but prefer a casual style can refer to Kimehwa's way of wearing short socks. Just have these four colors on hand, and you can't go wrong with any combination.

Secondly, she has a knack for styling plaid patterns that many find daunting , but her method is actually incredibly simple, and most girls should understand it at a glance: choose the prominent color in the plaid and wear other items of the same color on your body.

Alternatively, you can pair it with items in the same color family :

Pan personally believes that using different shades within the same color family is much more exciting and interesting. Using the same color simply avoids mistakes; using the same color family is what truly makes a master.

She loves and excels at wearing earth tones; you can observe her styling of earth tones in this series of photos.

If you don't know what different colors within the same color family mean, open the color picker; colors close to a certain color are within the same color family.

Third, she offered a hundred solutions for jeans for people who didn't want to dress too formally .

Pan has been wearing jeans a lot lately, mainly because she has four pairs in her closet after making her own mom jeans. They are so comfortable that she doesn't want to wear skirts anymore . On the other hand, the weather is getting cooler, and she can just slip on a pair of jeans and go out. Why bother wearing tights? Jeans are the most casual and go with the least amount of clothing .

Lately, I've been wearing mom pants haphazardly quite often like this...

Whether it's skinny jeans, mom jeans, flared jeans, or wide-leg jeans, Kimehwa can pull them off effortlessly, creating her own youthful and casual style .

But her way of wearing jeans is very retro. Hoodies, T-shirts, and shirts are her favorite items to pair with jeans, and she always adds a pair of short socks, giving off a vibrant 90s girl vibe.

Girls who worry about looking sloppy in jeans can consider adding a pair of suitable short socks, which will immediately make you stand out: a fashionable person who thinks about matching outfits, yes, that's you.

I believe that the ladies who have been with me all this time have noticed that Pan has given up many of her previously held styling principles and has made many changes in the past six months . One of these changes is related to my writing this public account.

The more I write, the more I see, the more I think, and the more images I collect and experience, the more I appreciate the diversity of beauty. I'm increasingly able to appreciate the beauty in various styles—of course, the premise is still not to dress too complicatedly; it's best to just play around with basic and simple styles...

On the other hand, I wanted to make life easier .

I haven't worn stilettos in a long time. My stilettos are gathering dust in the shoe cabinet. Every time I take them out, I can't muster the courage to wear them because I want to travel green. After thinking about it, I silently put them back. Over time, I've gotten used to their comfort and no longer think about those tight and restrictive styles .

The inspiration for my impromptu outfit for the photoshoot of my newly made coat also came from today's reference.
