How to prevent and control diseases and pests of daylilies

Daylilies are important ornamental flowers, beloved by many flower enthusiasts. There are many varieties of daylilies, and during their cultivation, they are susceptible to various pests and diseases that can severely damage their growth. Below, we'll introduce some common pests and diseases affecting daylilies and how to prevent and control them.

Rust

Spray with a 500-fold dilution of zineb solution before the onset of the disease; spray with a 300-fold dilution of sodium chlorate solution at the initial stage of the disease, starting from late March, once every 10 days, for 3-4 consecutive times; collect and burn diseased plant debris in the fall.

Golden Beetle

The main beetles that harm daylilies are the blue beetle and the white-spotted beetle, which can be manually killed. During the peak period of adult emergence, spray with a 1000-fold dilution of 40% dimethoate emulsion, or soak fresh plantain in a 5-fold dilution of water and spray. White-spotted beetles can also be killed by attracting them.

Leaf blight

Spray with 65% zineb at a dilution of 600 times or 70% thiophanate-methyl at a dilution of 1000 times in the early stage of the disease.

anthrax

Remove and destroy diseased leaves promptly, and thoroughly remove diseased and dead branches in late autumn and early winter; pay attention to reasonable fertilization and avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer; ensure good ventilation and light penetration, and prevent high temperature and humidity; spray with 70% carbendazim at 800-1000 times dilution before or at the early stage of disease to prevent disease.

Locust borer

In early spring, manually dig up overwintering pupae from the soil; during the early larval stage, spray with a 1000-fold dilution of 50% fenitrothion in the early morning or evening.
