How to choose a custom wardrobe? Here is a wardrobe shopping guide, save it for later use!

Nowadays, many people have custom-made wardrobes at home. They rarely ask carpenters to make wardrobes on site, because it is difficult to find skilled carpenters now, and the labor cost is also very high. If you find a carpenter with poor skills, the wardrobe he makes will not be as good as a custom-made wardrobe. Therefore, most people now choose custom-made wardrobes. So, what should you pay attention to when making custom-made wardrobes? Today I have summarized a wardrobe purchase guide, save it for future use!

1. Wardrobe Material

There are roughly four types of custom wardrobe panels on the market, namely, density board, particle board, multi-layer solid wood, and solid wood.

1. Density board

If you use density board for custom wardrobes, the price will be relatively much cheaper. Density board can be divided into high-density board, medium-density board and low-density board according to density. This kind of board uses relatively more glue, is relatively less environmentally friendly, and is easy to deform. So don't choose density board for custom wardrobes, it's a waste of money!

2. Particle board

Nowadays, most merchants who make custom wardrobes choose particle board, which is also called solid wood particle board or chipboard. It is generally divided into domestic and imported ones. For example, imported particle boards include Egger board and Kronospan, which are more famous boards. Domestic particle boards are generally E1 grade, and imported particle boards, such as Egger board, are Japanese F4 star-rated. So if you want to choose particle board, it is recommended to use imported Egger board.

3. Multi-layer solid wood

Multi-layer solid wood board is also called plywood. This kind of board has better waterproof effect than particle board and MDF. It is generally used more in cabinets and relatively less in wardrobes. When used in wardrobes, it is relatively easy to deform. As for environmental protection, it also depends on what kind of glue the manufacturer uses. If you want to choose a multi-layer solid wood board, it is recommended to choose a more famous brand.

4. Solid wood

If you use solid wood to customize your wardrobe, the price will be much higher, basically several times the price of the board. Different wood species have different prices. For example, rubber wood is relatively cheap, and rosewood is relatively expensive. When customizing a solid wood wardrobe or solid wood furniture, you must ask clearly whether all the boards are solid wood. Don't be fooled by the merchants. Drawers and back panels do not use solid wood, but boards directly.

In general, I personally think that if your budget is relatively high, you can directly choose a solid wood wardrobe. If your budget is lower, it is recommended to change to imported solid wood particle board. MDF and multi-layer solid wood boards are not recommended.

2. Edge banding of board

If you do not choose solid wood when customizing your wardrobe, other boards generally need to be edge-sealed. Edge-sealing is also very important. If the edge-sealing is not good, the formaldehyde in the board will be easily released. In addition, the edge-sealing is easy to burst, which also affects the appearance. Therefore, when customizing a wardrobe, you must carefully check the quality of the edge-sealing and ask what brand of glue is used for the edge-sealing.

2. Hardware accessories

In addition to looking at the board materials when customizing a wardrobe, you should also pay attention to the hardware accessories. Because the cabinet doors are basically opened every day, the door hinge accessories of the wardrobe are also very important. If you choose a bad one, it will easily rust or break. Therefore, when customizing a wardrobe, you must know what hardware the merchant provides, what brand it is, how many years the warranty is, and how much it will cost to add a buffer. These are all things you need to ask clearly.

3. Design style

Customized wardrobes also require personalization. Choose the style you like. Remember, don’t choose those old-fashioned wardrobes with louvered doors. Those designs are out of date. Now the minimalist flat design is more popular. But this depends on personal preference, so I won’t say more here.

4. Things to note when customizing wardrobes

There are actually many details to pay attention to when customizing a wardrobe, such as the depth of the wardrobe, the height of the clothing rail, and the issue of functional zoning.

1. The depth of the wardrobe

Wardrobes are divided into concealed door wardrobes and sliding door wardrobes according to the way the doors are opened. The depths of these two types of wardrobes are different. The depth of concealed door wardrobes is generally 550mm, and the depth of sliding door wardrobes is generally 600mm . However, this is only the regular depth. If your family members are very tall and the shoulders of the wardrobe are relatively wide, it is recommended to deepen the depth by another 50mm on this basis.

2. The height of the clothes pass

Many people overlook this detail about the height of the clothes hanger. The height of the clothes hanger needs to be communicated with the designer in advance. For example, if someone in your family is shorter, ask the designer to make a note on the drawing to install the clothes hanger lower. Otherwise, if it is installed too high, you will have to tiptoe to get the clothes later, which is too troublesome.

3. How many drawers should be installed?

The drawers of the wardrobe are usually charged separately, but you cannot save money on drawers. The drawers of the wardrobe are very convenient for storage. It is recommended that a wardrobe has at least 3 drawers.

4. Functional zoning

When dividing the internal structure of the wardrobe, you should decide according to your family's habits. If you like to fold clothes, then make more grids. If you don't like to fold clothes, then install two more clothes rails for hanging clothes.

5. Provide more ventilation

No matter what kind of board the wardrobe is made of, you should ventilate it more after installation. Don't believe in those formaldehyde-removing sprays, which only treat the symptoms and not the root cause. More ventilation is the most effective.

The above are my personal summary of the things to pay attention to when customizing wardrobes. Remember that it is best not to choose density boards for wardrobes. If you have a budget, you can choose imported particle boards. If the budget is a little higher, just choose solid wood. If you are planning to renovate or are renovating, you can follow me.
