Home maintenance

Winter weather is dry, which can easily cause engineered wood flooring to crack. You can mop the floor with a damp mop, place a bowl of water on the radiator, or use a humidifier. Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible to prevent the surface finish from aging and cracking prematurely under prolonged ultraviolet radiation.

You can purchase professional wood door care oils containing natural resins and plant extracts. These oils can replenish the moisture lost from the wood fibers and form a protective film on the wood surface to prevent moisture evaporation and reduce the likelihood of cracking and warping of wooden doors due to seasonal factors.

In spring, it's important to take precautions against insects on wooden furniture. Apply raw tung oil, shellac, or varnish to the surface of the cabinet to isolate woodworms from the air, thus preventing infestation. It's crucial to apply the coating evenly to both sides and the inside of the cabinet.

Metal and wrought iron furniture should be wiped with an oiled cloth and a mild detergent. If wrought iron furniture develops spots, it should be repaired and repainted promptly. Avoid using it in humid environments. If condensation is found on the surface, wipe it with a dry cloth immediately to prevent rust .

Although rattan furniture is not afraid of moisture, it is easy for mold and mildew to grow in the gaps between the rattan strips in hot and humid weather. It needs to be cleaned and ventilated frequently. However, after cleaning, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight to prevent deformation or breakage.

Do not use wet wipes or excessively damp cotton cloths to wipe furniture, as the alcohol in the wipes may corrode the furniture paint. If the furniture has not been cleaned for a long time, it is recommended that you use a professional cleaning agent. Pour the agent onto a soft cotton cloth and clean it, then turn the cloth over and wipe until the cleaning agent is removed.

To extend the lifespan of furniture, avoid excessive fluctuations in temperature and humidity, as well as strong sunlight, during the summer. It is recommended to keep furniture away from heat sources or air conditioning vents to prevent damage or premature aging caused by large temperature differences. Additionally, adjust the placement of furniture to avoid direct sunlight, and use curtains to block it if necessary.

In summer, when there is a lot of sweat, the pores of leather will absorb the sweat. The high temperature and humidity will cause the organic matter in the sweat to react chemically with the leather, which can easily produce odor. Therefore, it is necessary to wipe the leather frequently with a damp cloth and use special cleaning and care products to prevent cracking.

Keeping the coffee table surface clean is the first thing to do. You should clean up anything placed on the coffee table and wipe the surface clean after you have put things down to prevent tea stains or other liquids from being spilled on the coffee table, which will leave marks if not cleaned for a long time.

Hinges and locks are moving parts; tighten them promptly if found to be loose. Lubricate hinges if they make noise. If a lock is stiff, insert a small amount of pencil lead powder into the keyhole to prevent future problems. To maintain the shine of wood /staircases, wax and apply natural oils regularly.

If you encounter wallpaper bubbling, you can first use a sewing needle to poke holes in the bubbles on the wallpaper surface to release the gas. Then, use a syringe to draw an appropriate amount of adhesive and inject it into the punctured hole. Finally, use a scraper to smooth and press it down, and let it dry.

Placing hot water containers directly on the surface of wooden furniture will leave white, round marks. These will usually disappear with timely wiping. However, if the burn mark is deep, gently apply ordinary iodine or petroleum jelly to it. After two days, wipe it off with a soft cloth to remove the mark. Alternatively, you can use a soft cloth dampened with alcohol, perfume, or kerosene to vigorously rub the mark; this will also remove the white burn mark. After removing the mark, wipe it with a soft cloth dampened with water and then apply a layer of furniture wax.
