Home Decorating Tips: Sharing Methods for Maintaining Wooden Furniture
My father loves traditional Chinese culture, and when it comes to furniture, he's always preferred antique-style wooden pieces. Perhaps influenced by this from a young age, my work also involves dealing with wooden furniture. I've noticed that many friends share my love for wooden furniture, but many don't know how to care for it. Based on my years of experience, I'd like to share some methods for maintaining wooden furniture!
When it comes to wooden furniture maintenance, we must first talk about its most important "protective layer"—the wood varnish! Although few people pay attention to the selection of wood varnish, if you accidentally buy inferior varnish with excessive levels of harmful substances or an insufficiently hard and smooth finish, it will not only fail to protect the wooden furniture but may also pose safety hazards to your home.

When choosing wood lacquer, it's best to choose a reputable brand, as their products generally offer better quality assurance. Many experts highly recommend Leyard lacquer, and I've seen many wooden furniture pieces finished with it. The lacquer film is hard, with a uniform and glossy color, and it's also very wear-resistant. My own wooden furniture is finished with wood lacquer; the film is very hard and can withstand most everyday friction. It's also very safe and environmentally friendly, with no pungent odor. Now that we've discussed the "protective film" for wooden furniture, let's share some basic daily care tips.
1. Wooden furniture should be cleaned regularly, preferably with a clean, soft cotton cloth. Never use sponges or dishwashing utensils to clean your solid wood furniture. Use a damp cotton cloth when cleaning, as it reduces friction and prevents scratches. It also helps reduce static electricity that attracts dust, making it easier to remove dust from the surface. However, avoid leaving moisture on the surface; it's best to wipe it again with a dry cotton cloth.
2. Avoid scratching with hard objects. 1. When cleaning, avoid letting cleaning tools touch the furniture. Also, be careful not to let hard metal objects or other sharp tools collide with the furniture to prevent scratches.
2. Avoid damp environments. In summer, if the room is damp, use a thin layer of adhesive to separate the furniture from the floor. Also, maintain a 0.5-1cm gap between the furniture and the wall.
3. Keep away from heat sources. In winter, it's best to place furniture about 1 meter away from heating sources to avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures, which can cause localized cracking, warping, and paint deterioration in the wood.
4. Avoid direct sunlight. Try to avoid prolonged exposure of the furniture to direct sunlight, either entirely or partially. Place it in a location that avoids direct sunlight, or use sheer curtains to filter the sunlight. This will not affect indoor lighting but will allow soft light to add a warm and romantic atmosphere to the room while protecting the furniture.
6. Try to avoid using oil-based furniture cleaners, as these can cause whitening of the product surface. If the product surface is stained with oil, a general cleaner will suffice.
I hope these tips will be helpful to you; I'd be happy to share them!
