Treatment
Drinking water infused with dried licorice or honeysuckle is remarkably effective in treating pharyngitis. However, these two herbs are not suitable for everyone. Those suffering from dampness obstructing the middle burner, nausea, vomiting, or edema should avoid dried licorice. Honeysuckle is also unsuitable for those with a cold constitution or during menstruation.
People prone to this condition: those with dry skin
Prevention and control methods:
a. Proper bathing
The bath water temperature should be between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius, slightly higher than body temperature, but not scalding. Each bath should last 5 to 10 minutes, and no more than 30 minutes. Avoid excessive scrubbing. Choose a neutral or slightly acidic shower gel if possible, and always apply lotion while the skin is still slightly damp after bathing.
b. Internal regulation: starting with nourishing the lungs
1) Wind-heat type
Caused by a cold and fever, the virus damages tissue, leading to itchy skin. It can be treated with a decoction of ephedra, apricot kernel, licorice, and gypsum.
2) Humid and hot type
If you enjoy eating cold foods, it can cause damp heat to descend and trigger leg itching. You can use some heat-clearing and dampness-removing medications, such as agastache, isatis root, and honeysuckle, depending on your constitution, to relieve skin itching. At the same time, be sure to eat less cold foods.
3) Occlusion type
When the skin is blocked and obstructed, body fluids cannot escape, leading to the accumulation of dampness and causing itching. This can be treated with a series of formulas such as Guizhi Tang, Gegen Tang, Qinglong Tang, and Guizhi Jia Huangqi Tang to harmonize the Ying and Wei Qi and blood.
c. External treatment: Soak winter melon in water and add to bath water.
Boil dried winter melon peel in water and use the water for bathing. Then apply the winter melon peel to itchy areas of skin to relieve itching. Winter melon peel is sweet and slightly cold in nature, and has the effects of clearing stomach heat, promoting diuresis and reducing swelling.
③ Cardiovascular diseases
The most common illnesses in winter are cardiovascular problems, such as myocardial infarction. Following the natural order, humans must "store" themselves in winter, just as some organisms hibernate.
Vulnerable groups: Middle-aged and elderly people, and urban residents with oily diets and insufficient exercise.
