With the current high housing prices, most families buy small houses. When decorating, in order to leave as much storage space as possible, they will make a lot of storage cabinets.

However, the cabinets cannot be built randomly and the location is not chosen well. Not only will it be inconvenient to use, it will also affect the aesthetics of the interior.

So which places in the home are suitable for cabinets?

After moving into my new house for a year, I have summarized 7 locations in the house that are suitable for installing cabinets . Let me share them with you.

1. Entryway shoe cabinet

Everyone knows that the entrance hall should be a shoe cabinet, but many people don’t know what kind of shoe cabinet is useful. If you just buy a ready-made cabinet to store shoes, it can only meet the most basic needs and is not practical enough.

▲ Personally, I think that a complete and useful shoe cabinet, in addition to storing shoes, should also include functional areas such as a shoe-changing bench, clothes hooks, a dressing mirror, an area for handy items, and an area for frequently used shoes.

▲There are currently two common ways to install shoe cabinets in the entrance: straight and corner. The choice of installation method depends on the type of house.

▲The straight-line type is suitable for apartments with a straight corridor at the entrance or a living room as soon as the door opens; the corner type is suitable for apartments with the entrance on the side of the corridor, and the living and dining rooms are located after turning a corner after entering the door.

The entrance shoe cabinet can be made into three types: open, semi-open, and closed. The most common ones are closed, with doors, so that dust is not easy to get in. The inside of the shoe cabinet can be divided into layers with shelves, and perforated boards can be installed to make it more convenient to hang things.

2. Sideboard

A sideboard can free up space on the table. With a sideboard, you can put water cups, rarely used bowls and chopsticks, napkins and other items instead of placing them on the table, which looks messy.

▲ Sideboards can also come in many forms, such as floor-standing types, finished low cabinets, open lattice cabinets, etc.

▲It is not recommended to choose this kind of ready-made cabinet as a sideboard because the storage space is too small.

▲ You can customize the sideboard according to the house type, with more flexible sizes and more diverse styles.

3. Living room TV cabinet

Although some families now advocate not having a TV in the living room, about 90% of families will still install a TV and buy a TV cabinet. The TV cabinet is the "main storage unit" of the living room.

▲ The TV cabinet I'm talking about is not the traditional TV cabinet, which has very limited storage capacity. Instead, it's the TV cabinet wall below that occupies an entire wall, leaving only space in the middle for the TV.

▲ If the entire TV wall is made into a cabinet for storage, the storage space will immediately increase several times.

▲If you don’t like cleaning, it’s best to choose a design with cabinet doors, which is less likely to accumulate dust.

4. Bathroom mirror cabinet

In addition to the area under the sink, there is also a mirror in the bathroom. Replace the ordinary mirror with a mirror cabinet with storage space, and bottles and jars can be placed in the cabinet instead of being cluttered on the countertop.

▲ Mirror cabinets are more convenient to use than floor cabinets, and you don’t have to bend over to take things.

▲ If the storage needs are relatively large and the bathroom is large enough, you can consider building another set of tall cabinets next to the sink to increase storage capacity.

5. Bedroom bedside cabinet

In addition to the wardrobe, the bed can also be used as a storage part in the bedroom. In addition to the bed with a bed box, you can also customize the bed or tatami platform to increase the storage capacity of the bed.

▲ This is the bed with the best storage capacity I have ever seen. This kind of bed can be customized. If the room is too small, you can customize a bed like this and put it in it without putting other furniture.

▲The cabinet can be placed at the head of the bed. Building a circle of cabinets like the one in the picture above can increase storage space and you don’t need to buy bedside tables.

▲ If you feel that installing a cabinet above the head of the bed is too depressing, you can only make a cabinet on the side.

6. Balcony cabinet

The balcony is usually used as a laundry area. It would be a waste of space to just put a washing machine there. Usually, a wall cabinet is installed above the washing machine, or a whole wall of storage cabinets is made, and the washing machine is embedded in the cabinet.

▲ The fully enclosed balcony cabinet is more aesthetically pleasing and becomes clean and tidy instantly once the cabinet door is closed.

▲ When installing a laundry cabinet on the balcony, you need to avoid direct sunlight, otherwise it will accelerate aging and the cabinet panel will also change color faster. There are usually curtains on the side, which can be pulled up to block out a little light.

7. Bay window cabinet

Some people think that bay windows are useless, but some people regard them as storage tools. Cabinets are designed on both sides, top and bottom of the bay window to increase storage capacity.

▲ You can also make one side an open cabinet and the other side a closed cabinet, and the couch can also be made into a drawer for storage.

▲ Sit on the couch, put a cushion and a few pillows on it to increase comfort.
