Don’t know how to prune flowers? Learn these ten tips and you won’t have to worry anymore!

Use hand-drawn pictures to teach you how to prune flowers. You will learn it at a glance, but first make sure your flowers can be pruned.

1. Pinching/topping →  turning into flower balls [petunia, geranium, baby's breath...]

2. Remove the bottom buds →  turn into a lollipop shape [tree-shaped roses, crape myrtles, arborvitae...]

3. Pruning →  Promote ventilation, concentrate nutrients, and make the shape more beautiful [weak branches, overgrown branches, overcrowded branches, any branches that you don’t like]

4. Bud thinning →  Remove side buds and weak buds to concentrate nutrients to grow large flowers [peony, specimen chrysanthemum...]

5. Cut off the dead flowers →  re-flower faster, grow big bulbs, and keep the plants neat [all flowers you don’t need to keep seeds]

6. Branch pressing →  Press down the main branches to promote the growth of side buds and bloom more flowers [climbing roses, clematis...]

7. Root pruning →  Prune when repotting or transplanting.

According to the degree of pruning

8. [Light pruning]: Cut off 1-3 sections, used for general pruning after flowering.

9. [Middle Cut]:Cut off 1/3-1/2 of the length, shrink the plant shape after flowering, and generally prune during the autumn and winter dormancy period.

10. [Recut]:Cut off 2/3-3/4, and depending on the situation, you can also cut off the entire above-ground part, to use for rejuvenation, promoting bamboo shoots, and major plant shaping, which is usually done during the dormant period in autumn and winter.
