Rice, oil, and salt may seem like mundane daily necessities. However, food is of paramount importance, and salt, which we consume every day, is actually of utmost significance. Everyone is familiar with salt; it's an indispensable necessity in our lives. But did you know that besides being used as a condiment, salt can be used for many other things? Let's find out!
Home Furnishings
1. Use table salt to clean bathroom sinks
If your bathtub, sink, and toilet are made of white porcelain, they may turn yellow after a period of use and the yellowing cannot be removed, making them look dirty. To fix this, mix salt and rosin to form a paste. Apply the paste to the surfaces of the bathtub, sink, and toilet. After about 15 minutes, wipe it clean with a damp sponge. This will instantly restore the yellowed white porcelain to its original appearance.
2. Use salt to clean household carpets
Carpet stains are notoriously difficult to remove, a major headache for many carpet-owning homeowners. However, table salt is quite effective at removing some stains.

(1) Meat juice: If meat juice gets on the carpet, immediately sprinkle some salt on it and try to absorb as much of the juice as possible. This will prevent the stain from spreading. Then, follow the carpet manufacturer's product instructions for treatment.
(2) For grease, mix salt and rubbing alcohol in a 1:4 ratio, rub the solution vigorously in the direction of the carpet fibers, and then rinse with water. (3) For wine stains, sprinkle salt on the stain and leave it for 15 minutes. The salt will absorb the remaining red wine on the carpet. Then, clean the entire stained area with a mixture of 1/3 cup vinegar and 2/3 cup water.
3. Furniture maintenance
Using salt to maintain furniture will make it more durable.
If hot food or hot water damages the surface of a wooden dining table, mix salad oil and salt into a thin paste, apply it, and gently wipe it off with a soft cloth when it is almost dry. The burns on the table will then be restored.
To clean and polish copper furniture, first mix equal parts salt, flour, and vinegar to form a paste. Apply the paste to a soft cloth and leave it for an hour. Then wipe it off with a clean, soft cloth and polish. Spraying vinegar or sprinkling salt on copper ornaments can also have a polishing effect. First, scrub with a sponge, then wash carefully to ensure all salt residue is removed. Lemon slices soaked in salt can remove minor tarnish from copper items; rinse with water after scrubbing. If your outdoor metal furniture is rusty, mix salt and cream of tartar with enough water to form a paste. Apply the paste to the rust and let it dry in the sun. Wipe it off to remove the rust. Another method for removing rust is to mix lemon juice and salt to form a paste, apply it to the rust, and wipe it clean with a dry, soft cloth.
