Common sense of bed setting
Common sense of bed setting
About one-third of one's life is spent in bed, so traditional Feng Shui pays great attention to the placement of beds, believing that beds are not only an important place for recuperation, but also closely related to one's health, privacy, sexuality and fertility. Bed placement refers to the placement of a sleeping bed, and also refers to the placement of a bed for a newlywed or the relocation of an old bed. Bed placement is also required for special purposes (serious illness, seeking offspring). There is no need to choose a day to place a bed in an empty house, because the bed is a piece of furniture.
Newly wedded bed
From the time the bed is set up until the night before the wedding, the groom cannot sleep alone in the new bed, but must sleep with an underage boy (preferably a dragon). From the wedding day until bedtime, no one can touch the bed, nor can anyone sit or lie on it. After the bed is set up, it is forbidden to sleep alone within one month of the wedding, and the room cannot be left empty. If the couple is away on their honeymoon, family members can sleep in the new room or put the couple's clothes on the bed. It is forbidden to let divorced people sit or lie on the bed.
Bed placement zodiac sign
In the traditional almanac, bed-making refers to the placement, movement, and disassembly of a sleeping bed. Sometimes moving is also called "bed-making". For newlyweds, bed-making should be done by a prosperous person whose children are both outstanding and who has a good marriage. After bed-making, children with compatible zodiac signs should be asked to turn over on the bed, commonly known as "turning the bed, turning the bunk", which is a symbol of "early birth of a son". Generally, bed-making can be done by yourself, but the specific bed-making should refer to local customs and the advice of elders. Bed-making requires the right time, right place, and right people. Therefore, a good day and a good direction should be chosen for bed-making, and people with zodiac signs that conflict with the owner should be avoided. When making a bed, people with the zodiac sign of tiger should avoid it.
Choosing a date for bed placement
The bed is set up for special purposes (serious illness, seeking children). It is best to find a "good day for bed setting" when setting up the bed. If it is urgent and you cannot find a "good day for bed setting", you can only choose a day that is not taboo for bed setting. Not all auspicious days marked as "bed setting" on the old almanac are suitable for bed setting. It depends on the person. As for the actual time to set up the bed, you can move the bed and set it up on a good day, or you can move the bed before that and put it in a pre-determined position, but do not adjust it. Wait until the auspicious day, and then adjust the bed. Note that it is not suitable to set up the bed on an "unlucky day".
Bed height
When setting up the bed, it is best to have some sunlight on the bed. The key is that the sleeper should be able to see the bedroom door and window from the bed, and at dawn, the sun will shine on the bed, which helps absorb the energy of nature. When setting up the bed, you should consider whether its length and width are sufficient, whether the bed is flat, and whether it has good support and comfort. As for the height of the bed, it is generally better to be slightly higher than the knees of the sleeper. If it is too high, it will be inconvenient to bend over all the time.
Bed direction
Generally speaking, the choice should be based on the owner's Bazi. If the owner likes gold, the bed can be placed on the west side, with the head of the bed facing west and the foot of the bed facing east. If the owner likes wood, the bed can be placed on the east side of the bedroom, with the head of the bed facing east and the foot of the bed facing west. If the owner likes fire, the head of the bed should face south and the foot of the bed should face north. If the owner likes water, the head of the bed should face north and the foot of the bed should face south. If the owner likes dry earth, the head of the bed should face southwest or northwest. If the owner likes wet earth, the head of the bed should face southeast or northeast.
Traditionally , the direction of the head of the bed is north-south, and east-west is not recommended. Children should live in the east-facing room with the head of the bed facing east. As the saying goes, sleeping with the head facing east makes you look like a dragon when you wake up. The elderly should sleep in the south-facing room, which is good for heart and lung function. It is easier to fall asleep if the head of the bed faces west, while it is better for middle-aged and young people to face north-south.
Rooms and doors and windows
The choice of bed position should not only be based on the eight characters, but also take into account the good and bad luck of the house's orientation. For example, for a house facing northeast to southwest (Genshan Kunxiang), the hexagram position of southwest (Kun) is "Two Black Sickness Stars", so when placing the bed, avoid this unlucky direction, and do not place it facing northeast to southwest. There should be no beams above the bed, and there should not be large chandeliers or ceiling fans above the bed. The head of the bed should not be against the wall with toilets, shower heads, and wash basins. The feet should not be facing the door, the air conditioner should not be blowing straight, there should be sundries under the bed or there should be hidden drains or sewage pipes passing through. The head of the bed should be solid rather than empty. The head of the bed should be against the wall, not against the window. The bed should not face the mirror. There should be no high objects pressing on the bed. The bed should not face the door (especially the bathroom door) . There should be privacy and a sense of security, and it should be perpendicular to the door and window. If the room is small, a vertical bed will conflict with the door and window sill. If the door and window are facing the bed, or facing part of the bed, a screen or curtain should be set to block it.
