Adding color to our landscape

Colorful tree species mainly refer to tree species that use the color (non-green) of various parts of the tree as their ornamental characteristics, usually including leaf ornamental, trunk ornamental, flower ornamental, fruit ornamental, etc. Among them, tree species with mainly colorful leaves are also called colorful leaf tree species.

Features:

1. The leaf color is unique;

2. The tree has an excellent shape;

3. It is not prone to diseases and pests.

Large colorful tree:

Judging from the application of colorful leaf tree species, there are not many varieties of trees. The most commonly used ones are golden leaf Sophora japonica, golden leaf Fraxinus chinensis, Ginkgo biloba, American red maple, Metasequoia glyptostroboides , etc. There are not many stocks in the nurseries, and there is a lack of large seedlings with good landscape effects.

Native colorful tree species:

Currently, the native colorful leaf tree species worthy of attention include golden leaf Sophora japonica, golden leaf Ulmus pumila, Acer truncatum, Acer truncatum, Liquidambar formosana, golden leaf Fraxinus chinensis, and Tunghua tree .

Autumn foliage trees:

Enjoy the flowers in spring and the leaves in autumn. Whether it is the ginkgo tree with "golden armor all over the city" or the maple tree with "frost leaves redder than February flowers", they all provide us with a beautiful and varied garden environment. The autumn-colored leaf tree species worth paying attention to include the torch tree, ginkgo, maple, and Chinese tallow tree .

Common applications of colored leaf trees:

1. Solitary Plant

Colorful leaf plants are brightly colored and can play the role of the central viewpoint of the landscape or guide the line of sight. For example, tall and plump ginkgo, white magnolia, Norway maple, etc., as well as compact purple-leaf dwarf cherry and variegated maple can be planted alone in the courtyard or lawn to form an independent landscape.

2. Cluster planting

Colorful plants dotted in clusters in gardens and green spaces not only enrich the color of the landscape but also liven up the garden atmosphere.

3. Planting

Planting colorful leaf plants in groups to a certain scale can create a more imposing landscape. For example, the "Red Leaves of Xiangshan Mountain" in Beijing is mainly planted with Cotinus coggygria, and the "Red Maple in Qixia", one of the ten scenic spots in Jinling, is mainly planted with Liquidambar formosana.

4. Colorful hedges or patterned flower beds

Purple-leaved Berberis, Golden-leaved Ligustrum, Red Robin Photinia and other colorful plants with dense clusters and resistant to pruning are excellent materials for colorful hedges. They can form beautiful patterns when matched with green plants and are widely used in urban public green spaces, lane dividers and under overpasses. Especially against the background of green lawns, colorful plants are often set off to be more beautiful.
