If your carefully selected furniture has become dirty or worn over time, but you're reluctant to throw it away, a simple makeover can save you money while also being environmentally friendly. Here are a few tips to give your beloved furniture a "new look."

Part 1: Cleaning and maintenance of "renewing the old look"

1. Use salt water to remove scale from bamboo utensils

Rattan or bamboo items will discolor and accumulate dirt over time. Scrub them with salt water to remove dirt and soften them. Wipe them with a damp towel to keep them clean.

2. Use tin foil to wipe tea stains

Brewing tea on a fireproof coffee table will leave unsightly stains over time. You can easily remove tea stains by sprinkling some water on the table, wiping it with tinfoil from a cigarette box, and then scrubbing with water.

3. Apply wax to remove scorch marks

Burning objects like fireworks, cigarette ashes, and unextinguished matches can sometimes leave scorch marks on furniture finishes. If the burn is limited to the finish, gently rub the mark with a toothpick wrapped in a fine, hard cloth. Then, apply a layer of wax to remove the scorch mark.

4. Use an eraser to remove sticky stains

When you remove furniture labels, they leave a sticky, dirty residue. A coarse eraser works well. You can also use an eraser to remove chewing gum from the floor.

Part 1: Tips for a "new look" renovation

1. Convert the dressing table into a coffee table

When moving, the dressing table became damp and the legs rotted. After cutting off a small section of each of the four legs and repainting it, the dressing table was used as a coffee table in the living room of the new home.

2. Convert the coat rack into a shoe rack

Two double-door shoe cabinets are combined into a large shoe cabinet. A piece of wood from an old coat rack is taken out and pasted on top, painted with antique white paint, and old items brought back from travels are displayed on the shoe cabinet.

3. Change the storage cabinet into a TV cabinet

The storage cabinet was transformed into a TV cabinet. The original storage cabinet had a total of five "holes", each of which could be equipped with drawers at IKEA. After buying the matching sets and assembling them, it became a super large-capacity "TV cabinet".

4. Convert bookshelf into shoe cabinet

Isn’t it cool to transform a bookshelf into a shoe display cabinet? Yue removed the shelves above the bookshelf and installed them on the two-door storage cabinet below. The upper part became a display area and the lower part became a four-layer shoe rack.
