Avoiding pitfalls in furniture: Be cautious when buying these types of solid wood furniture, or better yet, don’t buy them!

Solid wood furniture is good,

But not all of them are worth buying!

Don't argue with me.

Because I'm afraid I can't speak better than you.

The factory manager only presents the facts, so here are the following:

1. Which solid wood furniture with certain craftsmanship is not worth buying?

2. Which wood materials should you be careful when buying solid wood furniture?

The reason why solid wood is so popular among the public, and some people even choose solid wood for furniture, cabinets, and floors, is mainly due to three reasons: environmental protection, naturalness, and good texture.

The first point I want to make is that the several types of solid wood crafts that are not worth buying are contrary to the original intention of these solid wood furniture:

If you don’t believe me, let’s talk about them one by one:

1. Painted solid wood furniture.

Everyone will definitely ask: Why do we need to color good wood?

Because some wood is cheap but light in color, if you want to make some heavy styles or special styles, many merchants will use coloring technology, which is cheaper and has a more advantageous price.

But the result of most painted furniture is that it looks unnatural and loses the original texture of wood.

Like a woman with fair skin,

You have to paint people as African natives~

Including some so-called red wood furniture. I read a report that took some high-density, low-priced wood and soaked it in a water solution to turn it red...

Which good wood on the market can be dyed?

Neither!

Good wood is made to keep its original appearance as much as possible, and the ones that are painted are basically cheap wood, which serves as cannon fodder for a makeover.

(One exception is smoked oak)

This is a way to make oak more upscale, suitable for special styles and with a strong texture.

I personally don’t recommend any other type of furniture painting!

2. Make solid wood furniture with very thick paint.

I have talked about this several times, but some friends still prefer this one, thinking it feels smoother and looks cleaner.

Why don't you just buy a piece of glass?

In fact, this is similar to coloring:

They are all to cover the surface, either the material is not very good or the workmanship is rough.

This kind of furniture can only deceive some ignorant people who think that the surface is smooth because of polishing. In fact, what you touch is not wood, but paint.

3. Furniture with yellowish color.

Many furniture of this color appear directly after being painted. Although it feels like solid wood, it is really difficult to match.

The easiest way to make your home look cheap or like a rental:

We should either choose a soft wood color like cherry wood, a dark brown wood color like teak, or a white-gray wood color like white oak. We should not choose furniture that is too yellow.

4. Multifunctional solid wood furniture.

We will find that now on the Internet, especially on Douyin, there are many multifunctional furnitures for sale, which can be turned into a bed, a sofa, a coffee table, a set of tables and chairs...

The design is quite interesting, but it is just quite interesting. It is not practical at all , as anyone who has used it will know.

Among them, there are also many multifunctional solid wood furniture.

But you have to know that solid wood expands when heated and contracts when cooled, which can easily cause adjacent boards to be squeezed or have large gaps due to temperature changes.

Secondly, the damage rate of hardware connectors in multifunctional furniture is very high. In the end, it not only fails to increase convenience, but becomes a burden instead.

Okay, the above is just about craftsmanship, next let’s talk about wood!

1. No matter what others say, finger-jointed boards will be eliminated by me first.

Don’t say that finger-jointed boards are also solid wood, because what we are discussing is not whether it is solid wood, but whether it is worth buying.

Although it is cheap, I would say it is not cost-effective.

First, it is ugly, with large and small seams all over the surface;

Secondly, the texture is poor and there is no aesthetic appeal at all;

At most, it can be used, but it is easy to get bugs~

As furniture that is used every day at home, it is necessary for it to look good.

2. Pine furniture.

Pine is often used as auxiliary material, such as drawer interiors, bed boards, or for children's furniture.

Because it has a low density, is relatively soft, and is very cheap, you won’t feel bad about replacing it when your child reaches a certain age.

However, pine wood is soft and easily deformed, so its load-bearing effect is not suitable for adults.

A bump will cause a pit, and the connection parts will become loose over time, causing a creaking sound;

Plus, pine wood will seep out pine oil, which has a pretty strong smell.

Therefore, it is not suitable for regular household furniture.

3. Some African woods that are very dense and heavy.

African wood is generally characterized by high density, dark color, lack of beauty, and roughness. It is most likely to be given various messy names to impersonate rosewood.

The output of African timber is huge and most of them are cheap. Many people are confused by the names given to the timber by the merchants and end up paying for it without knowing what they are doing.

Looks pretty intimidating~

For example, teak is cheap and very dense, and it is difficult to move a chair.

4. Confusing:

Be careful when buying wood with the word "golden thread" in its name, except for golden thread nanmu, such as golden thread walnut.

In addition to Burmese and Thai teak, other prefixes + teak should be used with caution, such as golden teak and African teak;

In addition to white oak and red oak, you should be cautious about other oaks, such as Asian oak and Southeast Asian oak;

In addition to the types listed in the national standard of red wood, other types with sandalwood and rosewood should be purchased with caution, such as blood sandalwood and red sandalwood;

In addition to North American black walnut, be careful when buying other products with the prefix + black walnut, such as South American black walnut...

Welcome everyone to give us some supplements based on actual use~

The above is just sharing of experience, which cannot be said to be 100% correct. I can only say that I hope it can be of some reference value to everyone!

Summary: Good wood should maintain its original color!

It is not only about appearance, but also about connotation.
