Are flowers prone to insects in summer? Learn these three "earthbased methods" to kill all the pests!

In summer, growing a few pots of flowers indoors can increase the humidity of the air and help us spend the summer. But there are also some troubles. Growing flowers in summer is most likely to attract mosquitoes, small flies and other insects, which makes people very unhappy. If there are insects at home, it is reasonable to use pesticides to kill them. However, spraying pesticides at home is also worried about the health of family members. Especially for families with pregnant women and children, try to avoid using pesticides at home.

Is there a way to kill insects without spraying pesticides? Yes. Today, I will introduce 3 "earth-based methods" to all flower lovers. You can use small objects commonly seen in daily life to completely eliminate pests on flowers. Let's take a look.

Essential oil, floral water

We all know that Fengyoujing and toilet water have a good mosquito repellent effect. This is because Fengyoujing is highly volatile and the smell it emits can make mosquitoes retreat. In fact, not only mosquitoes don't like the smell of Fengyoujing, but most pests don't like it either. Therefore, Fengyoujing can be turned into insect repellent after a little processing.

 How to use

Direct use of Fengyoujing has too high a concentration and will burn the flowers and plants. It must be diluted with clean water before use. Dilute Fengyoujing or floral water with clean water at a ratio of 1:50. After mixing evenly, pour it into a spray bottle and spray it on the branches and leaves with insects. Spray both sides to make sure that every corner is soaked with Fengyoujing water. Spray once a day and you will see the effect in about 3 to 4 days.

It should be noted that this method is suitable for most flowers, but it should not be used for flowers with particularly delicate and sensitive leaves such as Phalaenopsis, Dendrobium, and Mimosa.

Mosquito-repellent coils and mosquito-repellent coil ash

There are a lot of mosquitoes in the summer, and people often light mosquito coils at night to repel mosquitoes. Mosquito coils contain pyrethroids, which can safely and effectively kill various pests. In addition to mosquitoes, they also have a killing effect on common flower pests such as aphids, whiteflies, and black flies.

 How to use

If it is aphids, caterpillars and other pests crawling on the leaves, we can break off a piece of mosquito coil by hand and soak it in clean water for two days to allow the insecticide ingredients of the mosquito coil to dissolve into the water. Then use this water to spray the places where there are insects, once every 1 to 2 days, and it will be effective after 2 to 3 times.

If it is a winged flying pest such as black flies, whiteflies, thrips, etc. In addition to spraying with medicine, in order to completely kill them, you also need to light a mosquito coil and place it next to the plants where the insects are infested. The smoke released by the mosquito coil after lighting can spread, which is most suitable for killing flying insects. Once a day, it will be effective after 2 to 3 times.

The mosquito coil ash left after burning is also a treasure for growing flowers. Using mosquito coil ash to grow flowers can play a similar role as wood ash. It contains potassium, which can make the flowers grow more vigorously and reduce the chance of infection.

 How to use

We can add a little mosquito coil ash to the soil when repotting the flowers. Or we can directly sprinkle a little mosquito coil ash on the surface of the potted soil (be careful not to overdo it) to enhance soil drainage, provide nutrients to the roots of the plants, accelerate plant growth, and make the root system stronger.

Huoxiang Zhengqi Water

In summer, almost every household needs Huoxiang Zhengqi water to prevent and relieve heat, but did you know that it can also be used to grow flowers?

Huoxiang Zhengqi water is made from a variety of strong-smelling Chinese herbs such as Patchouli, Angelica Dahurica, Perilla, and ginger . In addition to relieving heat, this smell also has an insect repellent effect, and can be used to kill insects in flower gardens. Moreover, Huoxiang Zhengqi has a significant bactericidal effect, and can also be used to treat common diseases of flowers and plants in summer, such as powdery mildew, black spot, and leaf blight caused by bacterial infection.

 How to use

The Huoxiang Zhengqi water sold on the market has a volume of 10 ml in one small bottle. When using, 10 ml (one small bottle) needs to be diluted with 500 ml of water (a bottle of mineral water is 250 ml, 500 ml is two bottles of water). After mixing evenly, pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray it on the affected area.

Spray once every 2-3 days, the insecticidal effect is relatively fast, and it will take effect after about 3-4 times. The effect of sterilization and treatment will be slower, and it will take 4-6 times to see the effect.
