An old carpenter shared how to make a simple wooden bed. The highlight is the carbonization process. It turns out that a solid wooden bed can be made like this?
Step 1 : Make the bed frame
Step 2 : Build the bed beam
After making the bed frame, add bed beams on both sides of the inner wall of the bed frame to place the bed board. First, cut two bed beams with a width of 5cm, a thickness of 2.5cm, and a length slightly shorter than the length of the bed frame. Then place the two cut bed beams on the inside of the two sides of the bed frame, 2.5cm lower than the edge of the bed (the thickness of the bed board), and then fix them with C clamps and reinforce them with wood screws.
Step 3 : Make the bed
First use a tape measure to measure the required width of the bed board, and then start laying the bed board. The bed board is made of pine wood, which is economical and practical. The bed boards are connected by flexible half-groove splicing (or tongue-and-groove edge joints), so when laying, you only need to lay them flat in order, and it is also very convenient and quick to dismantle them.
Step 4 : Sawing the Legs
First, prepare some old wooden stakes with a diameter of about 12cm, and use a carpenter's saw to cut four 30cm high wooden stakes (as shown in the picture) to make the bed legs. Then use a pencil to draw the outer shape of the cross tenons at the four corners of the bed frame, and then use a carpenter's saw to cut out the cross tenon positions. After the bed legs are initially made, turn the bed frame over, clip the bed legs onto the bed frame, and cut off the extra section (inside), and finally assemble them.
Step 5 : Carbonizing the Wood
There are many ways to make a simple wooden bed. The highlight of this solid wood bed is the carbonization process. The carbonized wood process has been used more and more in recent years, especially for some furniture, crafts, and decoration materials with unique designs. The carbonized wood process is to make the wood obtained after carbonization. The carbonized wood on the surface of the furniture is generally roasted with an oxygen welding torch, so that the surface of the wood has a very thin carbonized layer, which can highlight the uneven wood grain on the surface and produce a three-dimensional effect. Here we mainly carbonize the bed legs and bed frame. After the carbonization treatment is completed, we start to polish it comprehensively, and finally the process of applying varnish. It turns out that solid wood beds can also be made in this way.
