[A Visit] 10 MustTry Foods in New York

The Christmas holidays are here, and many people are planning a trip to New York City. Thinking about indulging in a feast, many have asked me to compile a list of the city's must-try foods... So, here it is: 10 Must-Try Foods in New York City! Hahaha!

1. PETER LUGER

New York is a steakhouse paradise. And among all the steakhouses, there's almost no disagreement that the best is the Michelin-starred, century-old Peter Luger!

When eating steak at Peter Luger, you absolutely must order the Porterhouse, which is a large T-bone steak. The steak is cut in half along the T-bone, one half being filet mignon and the other New York strip. It's suitable for two, three, or four people. Many people prefer the Medium Well, while others who enjoy rarer cuts can try the Medium Rare. Peter Luger currently has two locations, one in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and the other on Long Island. Oh! And one more important thing: they only accept cash.

2. KATZ'S DELICATESSEN

Katz's Deli is also a century-old New York restaurant. People go there specifically for their famous Pastrami on Rye. While Katz's has seating with waiters, you mostly order and pay first, then collect your food. When you collect your food, the sandwich maker will let you try a couple of slices and let you choose whether you prefer lean or fatty meat.

The defining feature of a smoked beef sandwich is that it consists of two slices of bread piled high with an abundance of meat, forming a thick heap. It's so heavy you can barely lift it, let alone know where to begin. Be prepared: a smoked beef sandwich is incredibly delicious, but your table manners are guaranteed to be disastrous—perfect for a date!

3. RUSS & DAUGHTERS

Smoked salmon bagels and lox are another quintessential New York dish, best enjoyed at Russ & Daughters. This century-old establishment is now in its fourth generation. Fresh bagels filled with smoked salmon and a thick layer of cream cheese, often topped with onions, olives, or other toppings, are simply divine! Absolutely amazing!

In addition to its shop, Russ & Daughters also operates a cafe. The cafe serves what's known as "The Classic Board" and other dishes. The Classic Board is essentially their famous smoked salmon bagel, which is opened and served on a plate. Now you can sit down and enjoy it at your leisure!

4. JOE'S PIZZA

Although pizza originated in Italy, everyone knows it was in New York that it truly flourished. New York boasts a plethora of delicious pizzas; sometimes, even those costing 99 cents are surprisingly tasty. Here, we've chosen Joe's Pizza in the West Village because it's a genuinely delicious New York pizza, and the added bonus is that many celebrities frequent it—you might even bump into one or two!

Go to Joe's Pizza and order the Pepperoni Pizza. Authentic New York pizza is characterized by a thin crust and a thin layer of cheese. Some people find the pepperoni too salty and are satisfied with just plain pizza, because Joy's Pizza's crust is perfectly baked and tastes amazing! Joy's Pizza now has two locations, one in Greenwich Village and the other on 14th Street.

5. SHAKE SHACK

There are so many delicious burgers in New York, but everyone still prefers Shake Shack. As the saying goes, the West Coast has In-N-Out, and we in New York have Shake Shack.

Honestly, all of Shake Shack's burgers are delicious. But I especially recommend their Shack Stack. Besides the patty, cheese, and vegetables, oh my god! It also has a giant fried mushroom in the middle—it's incredibly tasty! Shake Shack has several locations in the city. Besides the main store in Madison Square Park, I highly recommend the one near Grand Central Station because there's hardly any line!

6. GRAY'S PAPAYA

Hot dogs are undoubtedly one of New York City's icons; a visit to New York is incomplete without trying them. But with hot dogs everywhere, where should you go? The unanimous answer is probably Gray's Papaya! What makes Gray's Papaya different... well... it's certainly popular! In fact, many people say it's the best!

At Gray's Papaya, order two hot dogs topped with various toppings—it's incredibly satisfying. Oh, and don't forget to also order a Papaya Drink; it's an essential accompaniment.

7. LUKE'S LOBSTER

Lobster rolls, originally from New England, only became popular and a trendy food in New York City. While there are many delicious lobster rolls in New York, Luke's Lobster remains the most beloved, having sparked the lobster roll craze.

Luke's lobster rolls are Maine-style, meaning the lobsters come from there, and the flavor and preparation method are the same. With so many lobster rolls available, why does everyone especially love Luke's? It's probably because they strictly select lobster meat and use their unique seasoning recipe! Delicious! Delicious!

8. CLINTON STREET BAKING COMPANY

Brunch is something you can find everywhere, and it's been around for ages. But, of course, only in New York City can you make brunch fashionable. Popular brunch options include Eggs Benedict, waffles with fried chicken, and many more, including avocado toast and all sorts of new ways to enjoy eggs! And the most popular spot is undoubtedly Clinton Street Baking Company.

At Clinton Street Baking Company, there are many things to order for brunch, but most people still prefer the traditional blueberry pancake for breakfast. Almost every table has a plate of it because it's really delicious!

9. DOMINIQUE ANSEL KITCHEN

When it comes to desserts, cheesecake has always been New York's quintessential treat. But ever since Dominique Ansel invented the croissant, everyone has fallen in love with it. The croissant tastes like a croissant and a donut, but it's more refined than both. Initially, everyone thought it was just a passing fad, but even after all this time, you still have to queue to get a croissant from Dominique Ansel Bakery! That's amazing, isn't it!

Another must-try is Dominique Ansel's invention, the Dominique Ansel Kitchen. It's not just food anymore; it's an innovative concept: you go to a restaurant for dessert, but instead of having it ready-made, you order it and they make it for you, just like at a typical restaurant! Isn't that cool?!

Finally, let's talk about something super high-end. When it comes to fine dining, New York has several Michelin 3-star restaurants, each with a renowned chef and, frankly, unique style. If you could only choose one, how could you not go wrong? Hmm... that would be Eleven Madison Park, because it's ranked number one, number 5 in the world!

Eleven Madison Park is a contemporary American restaurant helmed by renowned chef Daniel Humm. Their famous style features a multi-course tasting menu, each dish meticulously crafted!
