8m² small bedroom: can it fit a double bed and also store clothes for two people?

If there is no cloakroom, the master bedroom will be the only place for clothing storage. Sumitomo @小原嘉's bedroom is less than 8m², which is smaller than the one we live in now. In addition to accommodating a 1.5-meter-long bed, the main purpose is to store clothing. The two of us don't have many clothes, and the traditional wardrobe is bulky and takes up space. So we changed the idea of storage and replaced it with a more practical and flexible chest of drawers.

01. Why choose a chest of drawers over a wardrobe?

1. With its own drawer partition system, lazy people only need to classify clothes and put them in by area. The small classification units are more detailed than wardrobes, reducing the trouble of chaotic storage.

2. The process of taking out clothes is not complicated. You will not have the problem of taking out one piece of clothing and messing up all the other clothes like in a large wardrobe. You and your family can each have a chest of drawers, and if one person's clothes are messed up, it will not affect the others.

3. Having drawers is equivalent to having doors in the wardrobe. When guests come to visit, you can close the drawers and the wardrobe will look beautiful and tidy!

4. The chest of drawers has a spacious tabletop, which can be used as a dressing table or for storing handy items. Paired with a wall-mounted dressing mirror and some aromatherapy ornaments, you can save the cost of buying a dressing table!

02. How to divide clothes into sections efficiently for storage?

1. Assign an attribute to each drawer according to the category of clothing, and arrange them from high to low according to the frequency of taking. For example, underwear and socks are the most frequently taken, so put them in the first grid, and tops and bottoms/seasonal jackets are placed in the back.

2. The folding method must be easy to identify and take. Curl the clothes and flatten them → stack them vertically with the label side facing outwards. When taking them out, press the clothes next to each other with your hand and then take them out.

3. It is recommended to match it with a storage rack for hanging clothes. For large coats, clothes that are not suitable for folding, and clothes that are often worn and taken out, they can be hung directly.

The detailed method of clothing partitioning and the detailed dimensions of the chest of drawers are also marked in the picture.
