25 LittleKnown Scientific Facts

In a long-term collaboration with advertising agency Rethink, Science World in Canada has launched numerous large-scale outdoor advertisements featuring scientific facts rarely encountered by the general public. While receiving this interesting information, the public may also become interested in the stories or reasons behind it. Science World's tagline is: "Come to Science World and let us explain..." This interactive approach achieves a win-win situation for both the audience and the advertiser.

(So don't buy blue clothes, they attract mosquitoes.) Your eye muscles move up to 100,000 times a day. (I didn't even realize it.) Japan experiences approximately 1,500 earthquakes annually. Cat urine shines under ultraviolet light. (Owning a cat can be scary.) Beavers gnaw on nearly 200 trees every year (clearly going against squirrels).

Tigers can use litter boxes (this will come in handy if you're planning to keep a tiger at home). Your eyesight improves when you're scared. (I've always had bad eyesight, but I'm always afraid of ghosts.) Actually, the bumps we get from mosquito bites are because we're allergic to mosquito saliva.

In space, you'd be taller (because there's no gravity). Hydrofluoric acid can dissolve glass (what is hydrofluoric acid anyway?). Tapeworms that parasitize humans can grow up to 22.9 meters long! If you peeled off all your skin and laid it flat, it would cover nearly 2 square meters. Pearls can grow to weigh 6 kilograms. Lightning strikes 100 times per second. The carbon content in the human body is enough to make 9,000 pencils. You unknowingly swallow more than a liter of snot every day! The amount of gas you fart every day is equivalent to filling a balloon.
