Furniture tips
The size of furniture has a great impact on the visual effect and use effect of the room space. Before purchasing, you must first accurately measure the size of the indoor placement, and then choose furniture of suitable size. Therefore, the selection of furniture should start with the specifications of the furniture. For example, when buying a wardrobe, the width of the cabinet must be more than 50cm. If it is only more than 40cm, it will not be able to put clothes. The width of the bookcase should be between 30 and 40cm. If it is too wide, it will be a waste, and if it is too narrow, it will not be enough.
When choosing furniture, pay attention to the following points when checking the quality:
1. Pay attention to the moisture content of wood. If the moisture content is high, the wood is prone to warping and deformation. The moisture content of furniture should not exceed 12. When ordinary consumers buy furniture, they do not have testing equipment. They can touch the bottom of the furniture or the unpainted part inside. If it feels damp, then the moisture content is at least above 50, and it cannot be used at all. Another way is to sprinkle some water on the unpainted part of the wood. If it dries slowly or does not dry, it means that the moisture content is high. If the artificial board you choose is deformed, swollen at the edges, or uneven in the middle, it means that the board has too high water absorption rate.
2 Pay attention to the materials used in furniture. The surface materials of furniture, such as the legs of tables, chairs, and cabinets, are required to be made of hard miscellaneous wood, such as ash and oak, which are relatively strong and can bear weight, while other materials can be used for the internal materials. The thickness of the legs of the wardrobe is required to reach 2.5cm. If it is too thick, it will look clumsy, and if it is too thin, it will be easily bent and deformed. The cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom cannot be made of fiberboard, but plywood. Because fiberboard has strong water absorption, it will swell and be damaged when it comes into contact with water. The table in the restaurant should be washable. If the wood has insect eyes and foaming, it means that the drying is not thorough. Such furniture should not be bought, because the insect eyes will bite bigger and bigger. After checking the surface, you must also open the cabinet door and drawer door to see if the inner material is rotten. You can pinch it with your fingernails. If you pinch it in, it means that the inner material is rotten. After opening the cabinet door, smell it with your nose. If it rushes to your nose, irritates your eyes, and tears come out, it means that the formaldehyde content in the adhesive is too high, which will be harmful to the human body.
3. Pay attention to whether the structure of the furniture is firm and whether the mortise and tenon joints are tight. When selecting small furniture, such as chairs, stools, and hangers, you can drag them on the cement floor and gently drop them. If the sound is crisp, it means the quality is good; if the sound is dull and there is a crackling noise, it means the mortise and tenon joints are not tight and the structure is not firm. You can shake the desk and table by hand to see if they are stable. You can sit on the sofa and shake it. If it does not move, does not become soft, and makes no sound, it means the mortise and tenon structure is relatively firm. If it squeaks and twists when you sit and move, and shakes when you shake it, it is nail work and will not last long. The legs of square tables, long tables, chairs, etc. should have four triangular clips to fix them. If not, they may fall apart over time. When selecting, you can turn the tables and chairs upside down to take a look, and you can touch the cloth chairs with your hands.
4 When choosing furniture, you should also check whether the four legs of the furniture are flat on the ground. You can tell this by shaking it flat on the ground. Some furniture only has three legs on the ground. Check whether the tabletop is flat and straight. It should not be hunched or slumped. If the tabletop is convex, the glass plate will spin when placed on it; if the tabletop is concave, the glass plate will break when pressed. Pay attention to check the cabinet doors. The gap between the drawers should not be too large. They should be horizontal and straight, and the doors should not sag.
5 When choosing furniture with veneer, whether it is veneer, PVC or pre-painted paper, you should pay attention to whether the outer layer is pasted flat, whether there are bulges, bubbles, or loose joints. When checking, look at it against the light, otherwise it will not be visible. Furniture with veneer veneer of ash wood is more damaged and can generally only be used for two years. As for wood veneer, planed veneer is better than rotary cut. The way to identify the two is to look at the pattern of the wood. The texture of the planed veneer is straight and dense, while the pattern of the rotary cut veneer is curved and sparse. For furniture with particleboard veneer, the ground part must be sealed. If the edge is not sealed, the board will absorb moisture, swell and be damaged. Generally, the corners of veneer furniture are easy to warp up. When selecting, you can use your hand to buckle the corners. If it rises up when you buckle, it means that there is a problem with the glue.
6 Pay attention to whether the edge wrapping and edge sealing of furniture are flat and tight. If the edge sealing is not flat, it means that the inner material is wet and the edge sealing will fall off in a few days. The edge sealing should also be rounded, not straight edges and right angles. The edges sealed with wooden strips are prone to moisture or cracking. The furniture wrapped with plywood is nailed with nails. Pay attention to whether the nail holes are flat and whether the color of the nail holes is consistent with that of other places. Usually the nail holes are sealed with putty. Pay attention to whether the putty is bulging. If it is bulging, it is not good, and the putty will slowly fall out from the inside.
7 When choosing furniture with mirrors, such as dressing tables, full-length mirrors, and dressing mirrors, be careful to check whether the mirror is deformed or discolored. Check whether there is lining paper and backboard at the mercury on the back of the mirror. If there is no backboard, it is unqualified. If there is no paper, it is also unacceptable, otherwise the mercury will be worn off.
8 The painted part of the furniture should be smooth, flat, without saliva, wrinkles, or bumps. The edges and corners cannot be straight, as straight edges are prone to chipping and paint peeling. The inside of the furniture door should also be painted. If it is not painted, the board will bend easily and look ugly.
9. Pay attention to whether the hardware accessories of the furniture are installed in a complete, regular and reasonable manner. For example, check whether the door lock switches work properly; a large cabinet should be equipped with three concealed hinges, but some only have two; three screws should be installed, but some cut corners and only install one screw, which will fall off after a while.
10 When choosing a sofa or a soft bed, you should pay attention to the surface being flat and not uneven; the hardness and softness should be even, not hard in some places and soft in others; the hardness and softness should be moderate, not too hard and not elastic, nor too soft and collapse as soon as you sit on it. The selection method is to sit on it and press it with your hand to see if it is flat and whether the springs make sounds. If the springs are not arranged properly, they will bite and make sounds. Secondly, you should also pay attention to whether the quilting has broken or skipped threads, and whether the density of the corner teeth is reasonable.
11 When buying furniture, you should also pay attention to the color of the furniture and the interior decoration. Although white furniture is beautiful, it tends to turn yellow over time, while black furniture tends to turn gray. Don't just want to look good at the time, but end up with a white that is not white, and a black that is not black. Generally speaking, furniture with imitation mahogany color is not easy to change color.
Finally, there is the question of how to use and maintain furniture. Furniture should generally be wiped with a dry cloth instead of a wet cloth, as paint can easily peel and fall off if it gets wet. Do not place furniture directly in a damp place, and use a pad in a damp place. Furniture should be kept away from sunlight as much as possible, and should not be placed near a stove or heater, as paint can easily peel and fall off. Furniture that has been spray-painted is very bright at the time, but it will not be so after two years. Acrylic paint is better, but it is too brittle and afraid of being touched, and it will fall off if touched. Water-resistant paint is better, it is not afraid of being scalded, but it is not bright. If the dirty marks on the furniture cannot be wiped clean with hot water, you can try to wipe it lightly with alcohol.
